How's it easy?
He has an incredible amateur record and won Gold.
He has been seriously hurt already. He defense is crap and hasn't gotten better.
If you are a pro and you are getting knocked down, you pull back your competition level and stay in the gym.
He hasn't even faced elite competition yet...that's worrisome.
He's more open than Britney's pussy.
He has never been seriously hurt, when hes been knocked down, its been a flash knockdown, watch both videos against his last opponent and against Jiminez,as soon as he gets up,he comes back to actually win the round, and give punishment out in the process
But Gamboa does have to work on his D,hes got all the talent in the world,i think Floyd Sr would be a perfect match for Yuriorkis
He has been knocked down but not badly hurt. And i think he will have learned from that. Also he goes crazy because he is not really concerned about what is coming back at him yet. I think he wins a world title and continues to get better. He needs to keep his hands up but the speed, reflexes, and power are sick.
u guys keep saying that Gamboa has been knock down few times, thats bullshit!!!! the only one that has really knock him down was Darling Jimenez, the other two were shit.
He's 26; that is not old. He can afford 1 year under a good trainer while going up one step at a time. It's better than going right up to the top step and getting KFTO and never being the same.
your right, he has all the potential in the world. he needs to adjust i hope he can make the adjustments needed but people are saying he may be too set in ways to do that.
i guess we'll have to wait and see, maybe getting ktfo will be the only thing to give him the insight he seems to need.
ya he's got some great hand speed, heart, conditioning, exciting as hell blah blah blah. but he seriously flawed in defense and has been repeatedly hurt in his bouts. ya hes moved up and stepped up quickly, but hes not young and should be going at the pace imo.
but what happens when he faces the elite that can really take advantage of his flaws.
right now all his good qualities have insured he gets the W at the end of the day, but unless he adjusts its just a matter of time.

Its easy to look flawed against the opposition he has faced so early on.

Vitali Klitschko has to defend his title against Juan Carlos Gomez, Gomez won against one of the Klitschkos in the amateurs.
Gamboa is fighting Elio Rojas for the interims title.
Hide has to fight for an eliminator, if he wins he fights the winner of Fragomeni and Wlodarczyk
This kid has World Class Ability but has a flawed fighting style. He needs to get another trainer that can work on his defense, like Mayweather Sr. Gamboa is also an athletic phenom like Floyd Jr. as well as having a great amateur career...so there is enormous talent to work with...something Sr. would like.
I also don't like fighters being rushed in. Gamboa is still young and 12 months with Sr. at his side would be great. No rushing fighting for a title when you have that many flaws in your defense and have been knocked down a few times.
And forget the language barrier, neither speaks English.
Actually, maybe Sr. would not be the best choice. I can see Sr. slowing Gamboa down and taking less risks.
Gamboa would be cool if he could take a bit from Meldrick Taylor but tighten up that defense.
Tyson style might be cool.
couldnt get the link to work, its on btalk main page though...
Gomez’ Cuban compatriot Yuriorkis Gamboa will also have the chance to win his first world title after only twelve pro-fights. “El Ciclon de Guantamo” will face Elio Rojas from Domenican Republic for the interim world featherweight championship because titleholder Oscar Larios got injured in his most recent win over Takahiro Aoh on October 16th.
link didn't work for me, who's he suppose to face? i'm kinda off the gamboa band wagon, he has to improve or else he's gonna loose his 0, hes too easily hit and his chin seems a little suspect.
