This is a real question, I know alot of people make threads like this to start shit. I want ti know everyones real opinion on the kid. I have never seen him fight and was considering buying his fights on dvd. First I wanted to know if this guy is all hype because of his father, or if he gots decent skills for a 22 year old with no amature background. Does he seem to have what it takes to someday be a serious contender, or does it seem like he will continue fighting tune-up type guys and riding his fathers name as long as he can ?
This is for people who have actually seen the kid box and got an intelligent assessment of how he fights. NO HATERS!!
those are fair and i would say pretty accurate. althought the top 3 guys can arguably replace each other in each spot.
very true... now we are seeing more eye to eye.
super welter is veryyyy promising for 2009 huh
chavez jr. has skills, he has a nice style............. but it kinda gets to me that theres better boxers out there that arnt aware of themm....
its alll in the name...
i think it's just him taking his opponents lightly and not training and prepping as hard as he can.
yeah but that's a mixture for disaster as well. eh, we will see how it plays out soon enough man.
yeah he does bro, but it's not looking like much longer unless he can really start to be strict, and keep the weight down much better in between fights.

when you speak of a prospect/contender in a certain weight class... like 154
you line up his similar competition and see how the guy could hang...
the NABF imo has it RIGHT ON... and this is pretty much the order for the Top 5 prospects at Super Welter
1. JAMES KIRKLAND, TX
2. VANES MARTIROSYAN, CA
3. ALFRED ANGULO, MEX
4. JOE GREENE, NY
5. JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR., MEX

how did this become a debate about who's better between Jr. and Vanes?

that's a valid arguement. he needs to make 154!!!!

he's ok, but he can't make 54 very well already, and if he has to move up to 60 he's gonna get hurt if he fights anyone decent.

hes more or less in the level of duddy....that would be a good fight.......ive always liked jr...he a funny guy...and decent enough a fighter.....he is talented......maybe if his daddy had trained him to be a legend since jr was a kid, jr would have more........as of right now, with 2-3 years more of experience, i think he gets a title....
yet he is well ahead of Jr. for the NABF title... ;)

that continental belt was probably just handed down to him by daddy...
no he acutally fought for it.
as far as those rankings you posted he's only two spots ahead of a young 22year old kid with no amatuer experience while on the other hand vanes had a good am career that included the olympics
No he is not good, overrated power, overrated stamina, shit defense! Vanes, angulo or kirkland all beat him actually fairly easily. Don't understand all the hype. And Rogelio how come you are making this a popularity contest, I thought it was boxing and who had skills?
he proved to everyone he could handle bums like vanda easily when he is healthy, its time for him to step up
i suggest a fight with the 46 years old jorge paez he is still active and fighting this saturday against yori boy campas
Maaan, Maromero would get killed!!! :dead1:
vanes doesn't have the genes or blood that chavez has :) How many amatuer fights did vanes have including the olympics? I hope he has better footwork than someone that never had an amatuer career. who's vanes going to fight? If you wan't to talk about little belts then chavez already beat him to that he won the WBC Continental Americas light middleweight title and has already defended it once :)
yet he is well ahead of Jr. for the NABF title... ;)

julio cesar chavez jr vs jorge paez jr :D AMA fight.
i swear to jeebus, junior looks like my twin at that age:lol1:
and that was actually a nickname of mine(chavez) as a kid too.
Good stuff, I was under the impression he had no amature back ground what so ever.
