I like Williams but the fact that he had no answers for 12 rounds against a 'B' level fighter leaves me wondering about him. Unfortunately he's only fought a couple rounds since so it's hard to judge if he's actually made improvement. Is that the kid who died of cancer who B-hop was a paul bearer to? I think he's a good fighter, but he still has alot to prove....ALOT.

I think his height makes people give him a lot of chance against the big names, Even thoguh he hasnt been any major names he has too many advantages over them in terms of how he stand and fight.

no Cotto has beaten good fighters Mosley,Judah, Quintana etc at 140 he also beat good fighters who went on to become champions Torres,Mallignaggi amongst Let's be honest here... cotto was riding a lot of hype as the next tito. he beat a few decent fighter but his best win was Mosley. None of those other guys are HOF bound expect Mosley. Margarito has fought alot good fighters Santos, Lewis, Cintron, Cotto, Martinez, Clottey etc Margarito on the other hand had absolutely no hype at all in contrast and had to steal cotto's hype to be considered good. all his competition is also competant, but his biggest win still is Cotto. Williams has not faced as many good fighters as either of them in my opinion in the future i hope to see him fight some good quality opponents same thing with williams. he's riding alot of hype cause he gets play from HBO AND he stole Marg's mojo. margarito is his best win. in conclusion: cotto, margarito, williams, all their resume is based on 1 big win each respectively. you can take shit, compare it with other shit, but at the end of the day it's still shit. NOW, if cotto, margarito and williams and mosley (and I'll throw clottey in there just for good measure) fight a round robin (with rematches and all) we can actually get somewhere.

He has good wins over Margartio and Quintana and his lone loss he avenged something fierce. Heck no one really even talks about him in terms of p4p yet. some people think highly of fighters for the skills they actually bring into the ring and IMO there isn't any shame in that. I don't think any of his fans are claim he has beaten all of the best but will say he has a style and skillset that would give just about every fighter from 147 to 160 some issues. I dont need a resume to tell me PWill is good and could be even better. I don't need a resume to tell me he is one of the best at 147, could easily be one of the best at 154, and as time progresses could be a very good 160lb fighter I am with you on this one. I am not exactly a Williams fan boy, but I have high hopes for his future. The thing about Williams is that the potential is there for an AMAZING career. He seems to have both the ability and balls to step up to anybody, if he doesnt underestimate anyone from now on and gets the right fights, his career could be an awesome story. So yeah, I think its more attitude and potential than resume to date.

I agree HH. He had a good win over Margarito but his reputation right now, especially on these boards, far exceeds his accomplishments to date. He still needs to put more quality wins on the board to convine me. Splitting two fights with Quintana just ain't going to get the job done for me. Ok, then who the hell has Kessler ever beaten? He gets more hype than Williams on these boards and he's never beaten anybody anywhere near as good as Margarito. But I don't see the same challenge of his credentials when compared to Williams.

Paul Williams is nowhere near as popular as Floyd and will never be. He is getting fans because of his wins, not his race. And is considered highly because of his talent and potential, not the hard to figure out. Agreed 100 percent. That comment you were resonding to was ignorant.

Hes regarded so high because of his phisical attributes, his skills and power...@ 147 hes a monster, tremendous height and reach, anybody who fights him in that weight class needs to have a serious gameplan for him...and i dont think his loss to quintana sets it, i think he just took him lightly.

good points, i agree, i can see him doing very well at 147 and 154, who knows maybe at 160 in the future, i would like to see him against some more quality fighters and a real chalenge at 160 before i could say if he can really compete there, his does have the skills to do very well again i agree with this i think it is unfair to say his loss to Quintana was a fluke, why was it a fluke? he beat him clearly over 12 rounds, in the rematch Paul caught him and finished Quintana why was that not a fluke? a third fight in the future would be interesting cool and I think we can use Margarito as a case as well. For years the reasoning for a lot was that he wasn't any good and hadn't beaten anyone but fans of his knew what he could do if given a chance now he is considered one of the top 1 or 2 fighters in a deep division. and to be honest I too would like to see a Quintana rematch. His obvious physical advantages and punch output are legitimate factors to consider when speaking about Williams. He will be a handful for anyone at Welterweight and Jr. Middleweight. I think it is very premature to regard him highly against top Middleweights however. The folk who think he'd give Kelly Pavlik hell make me scratch my head. again i agree with this he beat Walter "The Beast" Matthyse in his prime!!!
