never seen a fighter use it except on his wrists over the gloves. joe has it on his wrists, and wraps b4 the gloves go on. strange, but it must help him i guess.
Maybe he's just being extra careful? I don't know, really, what it would help, but then I'm not an expert. If his hands are brittle, I can't blame him for using anything he can. From personal experience, broken hands suck; every time I've hit someone in the face with alot of power, I break their face, and either my wrist, my knuckles, or a finger. I'm not a fragile guy, but I can pack a bit of a wallop.....it's enough to make me not want to hit someone anymore unless they really need it. If I were in his position, I'd be extremely careful. After all, his hands are his livlihood.
its common for boxers to tape over their wraps if they have wrist injuries. i do it with my left hand very often. the only thing is, everyone that i have seen do it, does it with regular trainer's type, the white kind. i guess duct tape is just as good though....

Rumour has it that the gloves would infact set on fire due to his brilliant speed if it wasn't for the tape.
I actually had a world class pro give me advice on a hand injury problem I was having and he advised me to use duct tape on top of my wraps for support,he told me the glue doesnt stick either cuz I asked about that.
yeah, it's just funny to me because they make some real nice tape that is much better than that. i had a ****ed up ankle in college, and my football trainer had this kick ass tape he wrapped it with that was unreal. it got me through 1/2 the season.
sometimes u get comfortable doing something one way... and its been working... so why change it? hes probably thought about it... but hes prolly real used to and comfortable with the way it feels after 45 fights.
Not that I can recall, maybe it's just something he has done for a long time, he had wrist problems all the way back in his amateur days, I wouldn't be surprised if they started doing that back then.
yeha ur probably right it's most likely an old habit.
its not like it wouldnt do the job... its seems as overkill, but if u had bad wrists that would help a lot of that... almost like a flexible brace
