I am from Memphis, TN, and I have only seen one live fight in my life. I caught Tarver vs Johnson when they came to the Fedex Forum. It was a pretty cool night - Ann Wolfe fought that night, Andre Ward was on the undercard, etc. James Tony was there dressed like a pimp! I even saw Winky and Roy Jones. It was pretty cool seeing all of these people in person, but I still prefer watching on tv.
Which do you prefer - the feeling of being there live, or watching on tv?
I guess it depends on the seats at a live event. Not too many people would pass up a front row seat at ringside for the same price it may cost to watch it on TV.
yea if you got front row seats.... its really no beating that
unfortunately i've never been to a live fight but i do enjoy watching on tv from the comfort of my home.... plus im sure theres a lot of aspects and action you miss at the live fight

There have been some good fights in Miami OK, not too far from here (FNF does their thing there a couple times a year), and I don't mind traveling to MSG for a big fight if I have time, but at my age, I guess I just prefer the comfort of my own place, the ability to rewind and slowmo right away without missing anything, and not having to worry about catching a cab or a flight after drinking half a bottle of Bushmills. I can pass out wherever I happen to be sitting/laying/sprawled out.
Besides, I've had over a dozen guys watching fights in my theatre...turns into quite a party sometimes. Only thing missing is a couple of strippers, and that's bee considered.
Travel definitely has to be taken into account, I have lived in Vegas and Cali so the fights haven't really been too much out of the way. That set up you have does sound amazing though, your buddy's should thank their lucky stars.:beerchug:
That's a really nice setup
But I still have the stubs for
Morales vs Barrera 3 - fight of the year
Corrales vs Castillo 1 - fight of the century
Marquez vs Pac 1
Morales vs Barrera 2
ect,etc...
You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get good tickets, just got to know how to look.

One thing a TV cannot come close to being a substitute for is atmosphere during the fighter announcement and ringwalk. That's an awesome experience, especially if you a large crowd support for at least one fighter.
HOnestly, I prefer to watch a fight on a nice big screen, with TiVo. Being at the arena is OK, but the racket is hard for me to tolerate, as are some of the ignorant "fans". I'm not really the type to get excited about seeing my favorite fighters in person, so that's not an incentive either. Plus, if you want anything other than chump seats, you need to be prepared to drop near a grand or better on your tickets.
I have a 70" flat screen with a massive surround system in a 20' x 30' room that seats 20 people I built specifically to watch boxing. It has a fully stocked bar and grill, and heavily insulated 6" walls to keep outside interruptions to a minimum....I built this with my winnings from Wright/Trinidad.
So yeah, I prefer to watch at home.
Next big win I have (if I ever do), I'm going to build an addition on it for an indoor hot tub/jacuzzi. After that, I'll just need to get rid of my wife so I can put it to the use for which it was made.

I've never seen a live fight, but I've been to several concerts and unless you have good seats, it's better to watch it on TV. However, I would like to see a fight live.
Boxing fans need to go to the fights more often, I try to go atleast once every few months. It's not really that expensive especially for the club shows, it's well worth the money.
live is definitely better if you have good seats, venues like york hall in london are great as their quite small and you can see virtually everything from everywhere (not a great venue to box at though, changing rooms are HORRIBLE)
quite honestly, you have never really seen a boxing match until you've sat ringside. Or more to the point never felt a boxing match until you've sat ringside, plus you dont have to listen to commentators as they try to express what they seem to know little about (excluding Atlas and Kellerman ofcourse) There you can almost feel the shots. You see it all, hear it all and like I said just about feel it all. Its a whole new ball game from that vantage point. Nothing like ringside, except being in there yourself ofcourse........Rockin'
Hey Rockin' do you fight? I seem to remember someone with a similar username that was a fighter....

Most definitely. I would never pass up the opportunity to be ringside. I've got a lot of work to do to ever be able to afford that!
