I think he did, and I'm not hating on him for it. It is a smart move, and if he ever did come back I can guarantee you that he won't fight any of the big names at 147.
he simply lost motivation. That happens in every career. Floyd loves boxing it's in his blood you know that. Jermain taylor don't like following boxing as a sport but HE LOVES to get in the ring AND FIGHT! Cause someone gets older and is tired of dealing with the sport and the business end of it, doesn't mean they don't love fighting. Be real who is going to hate fighting yet fight their whole lifes? Did they get into boxing by accident and just figured they tough it out? As you know floyd never cared about ww, shoot he's not even a ww himself, he's a very small ww!!! He only came to ww to get the money fight with dlh. He almost didn't do the gatti fight but people wanted to see it, same with the people wanted to see him and judah go at it. After he got his dlh fight he wanted he made more money off a big hatton fight and that's all he wanted. Future golden boy thinks that floyd would be scared of a cotto who quit in his last fight, a williams that got his head boxed off against quintana, a slow margarito who floyd would do just like he did gatti, and a clottey that can never finish a fight and couldnt' ko a small for llightweight in corrales. People's opinions are so filled with hate they can't even use common sense. Every ww future golden boy listed have already been beaten by people with half of floyd's skill but yet floyd is scared to lose to them lol it's the internet though so i cant take it too serious.
I think some fighters feel like it's "work" so they tend to start to not enjoy it as much. Cause I hate "work"..so Im feeling them.
Good read Rog but where I disagree is where you said fighterz LOVE fighting. Very few fighterz love the sport of boxing. Mayweather for example,
Mayweather had fun in the ring...but that was at 130...I think he started to lose his love for the sport after moving up to 135...He even spoke about skipping 140 to face prime DLH...He might have wanted his way out much earlier...Money may have kept him a little motivated but when you truly love the sport of boxing, you want to take on all comerz, and prove that your the best...Floyd didn't have that kind of love after moving up...He didn't even fight Casa at 135...which I know he would have won. He did call out a prime SSM but we know what happend...SSM was still big $$
Fighterz that love the sport are fighterz that want to prove they're the best. Floyd proved he was the best at 130-135 pounder...I don't know why the Kosta fight didn't happend :(
Just to name a few
Whitaker
Holyfield
B-Hop
I don't know anyone who loved the sport more then B-Hop or Whitaker. Whitaker alwayz spoke about how much he loved the sport.

that's a good call smart guy considering i named lightweights and jr ww's lol
wow, VERY BRIGHT ROGER.. you were implying Floyd isnt worried about losing to these BIG TOUGH WW'S because he faced all those LW'S and Jr WW's...
way to go.. gonna start calling you punch drunk :friday:
and everyone you just named would get owned by the top of the current WW DIVISION....
that's a good call smart guy considering i named lightweights and jr ww's lol
It's obvious you don't know much about floyd. let me ask you this when floyd first came into the ww who was the undisputed p4p king of the division and known as a ko artist with lightning speed? and who did floyd call out in the ww division before even havin a fight there? Floyd offer cotto a fight at jr. ww after he beat gatti. Floyd offered the cotto camp a chance for a fight at the wbc belt why did cotto turn it down? floyd also challenged a prime mosley who was fresh of a dlh win whey did shane turn it down? why did floyd fight castillo? and not only that give him an immediate rematch since the first fight was so close? Why did floyd go up in wieght and fight a much bigger power punching corrales? A corrales who was ranked highly in p4p rankings BY EVERYONE, a corrales who many favored to beat up little floyd. If floyd is scared of challenges please explain those answers. It's hard to take you serious with your screen name which obviously points to what fighter you like, meaning you must be a casual cause it's hard to find a long time boxing fan who is a fan of dlh for countless reasons.
and everyone you just named would get owned by the top of the current WW DIVISION....
i think he retired because he wasnt motivated anymore. he has all the money in world and everything he could possibly want included 3 kids. alot of fighters say they're not motivated to fight anymore

I hate Dela Hoya lol
once again Smart man lol....
you quit in your last fight
yeah and buster douglas one of the biggest underdogs in sports history was also scared of mike tyson.
Hey smart man..read the title of the thread and get back at me with your similies.
Floyd is prime and still has it. Except now at 147..the Cotto's, Margarito's PW's, Clottey are TOUGHER.. so he QUIT.
um, they can BECOME scared once they feel those shots...gimmie a break.
Cliff Etienne wasnt scared of Mike Tyson?
yeah and buster douglas one of the biggest underdogs in sports history was also scared of mike tyson.
You cant be serious....that's a laugh!!!
He avoided the real threats at WW..the prime top undeafted guys there. Dont tell me that he didnt feel they were a threat to him.. (to beating him)..LIKE i SAID...scared in this sense doesnt mean shaking in his boots.. means he knew he could be beat or the potential was high so he avoided them.
I cant take you seriously man.

and to answer you last question people quit in fights when they feel they can no longer go on. It has nothing to do with being scared of the person since they obviously fought that person.
um, they can BECOME scared once they feel those shots...gimmie a break.

 no one is afraid of anyone dude you have to understand that. Boxers LOVE, let me repeat LOVE FIGHTING! There is nothing there that makes someone scared of losing or not wanting no part of anyone. It's almost laughable to think a world class world champion born to a boxing family, boxing since he was a kid, who has constantly moved up in weight to face people much bigger than him is now scared to fight someone or wants no part of him especially when although the ww is filled with good fighters, there's no one there that seems unbeatable. Seriously dude it's laughable! Floyd is as unbeatable any ww ever! Floyd at 130-135 is argubly the best of all time. No one in the ww division right now posseses half the skill that floyd does. No one has more confidence than floyd. If you haven't noticed floyd doesnt have a confidence problem. There can be many reasons floyd retired. If you been a fan of floyd you would know that even before he came to the ww division he always stated he wanted to move to ww for a dream match with dlh and then retire. Anything he did before that was to put himself in a better position to negotiate a fight with dlh and get a fair cut.

I disagree some fighters just dont want nothing to do with some people. Im not saying they lose sleep over them or get stomachs aches. But some people were afraid of mike tyson..I dont care what you say.. some fighters quit in the middle of fights when they have the oppurtunity dont they? All fighters are a little scared..it's human nature..yu dont need to be a professional fighter to know that.

no man. It amazes me how people think that these guys who have been fighting since they were kids(floyd pretty much as born with boxing gloves on), training and fighting grown men for years and all of a sudden are afraid to fight people. Margarito is a guy who took on all on his way to the top was willing to fight anyone. He wasn't scared at the age of 16 to fight against grown men, professional boxers but now that he is a world class champion he's suddenly afraid of a guy names williams that he's already fought once when he didn't even have to. No fighters are scared of each other, they just want to make sure they get what they feel they deserve when it comes to pay checks. Shit ask someone ranked 199th by wba if they would take a fight with margarito for 200k and see if they jump on the opportunity. No one at this level is scared of anyone or scared of losing. They didn't get to where they are at by being scared to fight. Floyd was a HUGE underdog against corrales a p4p undefeated ranked champion, also bigger than floyd and many considered corrales my ko little floyd but it didn't stop floyd from fighting him and well we all know how that fight went. Judah was known as the ww king at the time floyd came to ww and right of the bat floyd let it be know he wanted to fight judah for his belts. Floyd went up to 154 when he's a small ww already and fought dlh, at his weight, his gloves, his ring size, his date, his money, and alot of experts though again floyd was too small and would get ko'd by dlh's hook, well we know how that fight went. People sayinf floyd is scared need to watch another sport they can understand better

pbf would have to fight cotto, margarito and mosley on the same night to make what he did for hatton.
wtf? Do you know that hatton made more than floyd did for that fight? hatton does bring a lot of money to a fight due to his fan base and basically having a whole country behind him. a cotto floyd fight would have done big numbers pre margarito.
No one is saying he was afraid you would take his O , Roger.. Just maybe some of the big tough WW in the lets say, top 3 of the division..

why ? why is that..that doesnt even make sense.. man
You really believe PBF would have made the same amount of money fighting Cotto pre-Margarito as he did fighting Ricky Hatton?
pbf would have to fight cotto, margarito and mosley on the same night to make what he did for hatton.
dude this is pathetic. You must not know much about floyd or fighters in particular. If you think floyd was scared of someone in the ww division then it's not even worth arguing with you
No one is saying he was afraid you would take his O , Roger.. Just maybe some of the big tough WW in the lets say, top 3 of the division..
