Question's in the title.
Did you study a single fighter more than any other? Or would you say you have a broader overall knowledge of boxing in general?
Write a short piece about why you studied that fighter, if you wish.

Pat Cowdell. only because hes a relative of my grandads.
Cool that your grandad is related to Pat. I felt so sorry for the guy when he fought Nelson! Damn, the punch that closed the show was devastating!

you first!!!
OK!
I don't have a favorite or a particular fighter I am an expert on. If anything, I probably know more about Calzaghe than any other fighter right now.
I was first drawn towards boxing in the 70's. I remember coming home from school one day and seeing Ali on TV. I loved what I saw but didn't get deeply into the sport until a while later when I started watching Tommy Hearns. Tommy became my favorite fighter for a while, I loved everything about him including his afro!
During the 80's we had Tyson, Benn, Eubank, Watson, and a number of other amazing fighters. In the 90's I began to appreciate Kostya Tszyu, Jones, and of course Hopkins, though it was hard to get to see Bernard's fights. I do remember the Glen Johnson fight, I thought 'Nard was amazing. Towards the end of the decade it was Calzaghe, Lewis, and then Barrera when he beat Hamed (2001, IIRC).
Overall, I probably don't have as much knowledge as I should have considering I've followed boxing for 30+ years. This is my reason for making the thread. I have learned quite a bit here on BoxingScene. Even fighters I know quite a bit about, I still learn little interesting details all the time. It's cool to know how you all got into boxing, if a particular fighter drew you towards the sport, etc.

Im know most about Tyson and Cotto, Infact im a Tyson freak! I honestly could tell u every stat, opponents in order, date and to my shame tell u punch for punch (no shit) some of his fights!* Not quite so fresh anymore but i still know alot.Cotto ive been a fan of and watched from the start, watch his fights on dvd more than any other recently. Its good to have followed a fighter from the start i think, just wish i coulda been around for Joe Louis or Prime Tysons full career!
I bet that would piss you off if someone would keep going on about something over and done with.
Name one American fighter with two amateur wins over Steve Cunningham.
It was just so funny because Dmitriy with his accent, Russian kid, Chad an inner city kid who is real quiet...much bigger than Dmitriy at the time...they fought at much lower weight than when they met up again when I brought Chad to BK...it was old news....but D wanted to talk about it LOL
Davarryl stopped Lamon..and Dmitriy lost twice by decision to Chad Dawson. One time, it was funny, around 2002 or so I brought two of my fighters and Chad to Brooklyn to hang out with Dmitriy for the day and Dmitriy was talking to Chad about their fights, saying he thought he won one of them and got robbed...he kept on with it, Chad back then was a VERY quiet kid, you hardly ever heard him talk....but he was getting mad when D wouldn't let up LOL

I actually meant what AMERICAN stopped Lamon Brewster... , No, it wasn't Kendall Holt... and Curtis was shut out on the computer by Andre Ward
Hmm, I know Holt has a win over Salita in the amateurs.
Davarryl Williamson or Nate Jones?
Probably Haye i have watched everyone of his fights except the one in the playboy mansion and have seen some of his ams fights as well, I also know a fair bit about Floyd Patterson.

None in particular, at least none that are alive.
Felix Savon for Brewster.
Salita, Kendall Holt I believe.
Not sure about Curtis Stevens.
I know I have two of those right.

What future world champion did Dmitriy lose TWICE to as an amateur....Who did Brewster get stopped by as an amateur... who shut Curtis Stevens out on the computer scoring system as an amateur (11-0)??

I have followed Zab's career since 2000, and have seen every one of his televised fights since then. I also have his career collection. He's probably the closest I'll get to be an expert on any fighter.
