Do u think they would be considered as great or have the record that they do now?
The minute Ricky stepped foot on U.S soil, he barely made it out of a fight with a b-level fighter in Luis Collazo, which in the opinion of many, was a contraversial decision. He went on to beat Castillo, only to get starched by Floyd.
As for Joe. His first fight on U.S soil, he was dropped, and won a close decision via pity pat. Many also thought this decision was contraversial do to the fact that Hopkins landed the much more meaningful blows, which in return, Joe threw nothing but flurries of slaps (which he himself admitted).
Funny how both fighters look unstoppable until they step on U.S soil.
Dude, the nationalism is getting tiring. You sent Lacy who was the best at the time, he was "the next Tyson" and he was supposed to KO Joe in two rounds, but he got embarrassed and splattered. Many other American fighters would get dropped in the UK or Europe, it really depends who they are fighting. Kessler, for example, would embarrass many of the USA superstars.
Of course there are more quality fighters overall in the USA than in the UK, that's a given, seeing as there are more far people in the USA.
UK is about the size of Kansas, so considering this, it doesn't do too badly at all.
PS: I'm not from the UK, I just don't have blinkers on.
PPS: If Calzaghe only threw slaps, please tell us why Bernard didn't just walk through them and knock him out.
I'm from Kansas... is that true?
I know for a fact that the UK is MUCH bigger population-wise, but... geographically? That is very interesting.
Man Kansas sucks...

You my friend are probably one of the best posters on this board.
Jeff Lacy was undefeated and his career was fought on on U.S soil
so
Right. So none of those people fought each other, yet Hatton would've had to fight all of them?
Does that really make sense to you?
Those are rather wide holes blown into this thread's arguments.
I have no idea why fighting in America would have made them lose...
You don't think they could find comparable opponents in America as they fought in the UK?
Andre Berto is a world champion and has not fought a single fighter that would scare any champion in the sport, and he has never strayed from America.
It's about who your fight, not where.
I really dont think it would have made any difference if Hatton and Joe c had started their careers in the U.S.A, If the promoter was the same(Warren) then they would go through the same route, Jermaine taylor, Pavlik, lacy etc all also had undefeated record but against mediocre competitions before stepping up.
We all know that the greatest fighters come from the Americas. But I am not disrespecting Hatton or Joe because they are both accomplished world champions.
I just generally hate his style and the way he punches, I'm aware its because of his hand problem but feather fisted boxers in general don't interest me so its fairly obvious i wouldn't be a big fan of Joe.
I think his technical ability is also overrated, he does have some good footwork and at times displays decent boxing ability but i beleive the biggest problem he presents to his opponents is ' punches in bunches ' ... although they aren't really punches so he is able to throw more and at awkward angles ... I think that's where his success lies but its just my opinion.
Also fighters that got me into the sport in the first place are fighters like Gatti, Lewix, Tyson and a few others, all boxers that throw technically sound textbook punches and that's the image i have in my head as to how boxers should punch ... correctly.
well go watch younger joe then in older fights

**** sake man do some revision joes hands are ****ed no power why you think his hits look so weak for compared to yesteryear.
Jeff Lacy was undefeated and his career was fought on on U.S soil
so
jeff lacy is a bum ass n****
it dont make no difference, calzaghe will go down as the most overated fighter of this decade and hatton will be remembered for gettin his ass owned by floyd
Right. So none of those people fought each other, yet Hatton would've had to fight all of them?

Beat me too it. Who's got those resumes? They must be pretty special.

I'm interested to know which fights you think Calzaghe fought like a 3 year-old?
Obviously the Hopklins fight was horrible to watch, but Hops makes everyone look like poop, so nothing's new here.

I dont believe Hatton is even in the top 10. But of course, getting KOed by the best fighter in the world moving up in weight makes you a total bum.
Having beaten argueably the then P4P No1 18 months earlier.
I ****ing hate Calzaghes style and hate to watch him fight like a three year old

Calzaghe is the number two p4p fighter in the sport.
Hatton gets KO'd by Floyd and is still top 8.
So getting knocked out to the best fighter in the world makes you overrated?
Calzaghe is the number two p4p fighter in the sport.

I ****ing hate Calzaghes style and hate to watch him fight like a three year old, but now Floyd is gone who deserves that spot more than him based on acheivments?
I like Hatton and enjoy watching him fight and although it can be argued his acheivments haven't earned him that spot, its hard to take it away from him. He fights his heart out every fight, fights the best and wants to improve where he can ... can't really knock that.
Besides Ring Magazine has had Ricky as Belt holder at LWW for ages and top ten since he was 25 years old.
Do you think you know more than the premier boxing experts in the business?
Hatton and Calzaghe are clearyly without argument two of the most overrated fighters boxings seen in a while.
That's the thing, they aren't overrated, they get the most hassle and stick i have ever seen, how can they be overrated when all they get is hate?
I even hate Calzaghe myself and I'm British.
