I misunderstood the question; I didn't see the bit about hurting the resume. For me that would be Gomez, but for the worst beating he recieved it is FMJ for me.
completely agree
You guys forgot how badly baldomir ****ed him up? That was the one fighter that Gatti and his corner thought that they could beat. He got blown out of the ring.
I voted Floyd, but after thinking it over, i think Gomez was the worst. Floyd was at least the pfp#1 that Gatti lost to. Gomez was a bum from the contender.
losing to alfonso gomez should never happen to anyone i dont care how "shot" of a fighter u are.
Are you kidding me dude? ANYTHING Gatti did post-Mayweather wasnt gonna be the same guy, period. THEN you consider the loss to Carlos....
Its like Chop Chop, would you pick him of ANY decent fighter at this point?
The 9 people who voted Mayweather should really get on this whole literacy thing. I hear it's pretty underrated.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! I was thinking the same thing. Mayweather hurts his resume?
Oh his defeat to floyd without a doubt.
Theres no shame in losing to a p4p best but there is when you cant hit him back once or twice...
He got his ass handed to him that night.
The Mayweather fight probably took a huge toll on him physically and mentally, but I dont think it really hurt his resume.
Losing to Ward ****ed up his resume quite a bit, at least before the re and rubber matches. He wasnt supposed to lose to that guy.
losing to alfonso gomez should never happen to anyone i dont care how "shot" of a fighter u are.. it was kinda embarrassing losing to baldomir too.. but that floyd beat down was crucial i havent seen a fight so one sided
I can see your point, Manfredy also beat Robinson so I guess the losses to Robinson could be called his worst losses.
Yeah... agreed. 99-91 isn't exactly a disputable score either.
I think the Robinson losses hurt him the most. Ivan had already been smoked by Jesus Chavez and was a below .500 fighter after the Gatti fights.
The Ward fights immortalized him in history.
Floyd and Oscar, he was never in or expected to be in either of those fights.
Bad and Gomez go hand in hand for me...
yeah i see what you mean.
I should of said a bad beating and Gomez don't go together......
only if he was the one taking the beating.
On the car ride home after class, I got to thinking...
I think Robinson is the worst loss of the bunch.
A few reasons why:
1. He fought Gatti's fight and still won handily! He was supposed to be the slick boxer who would have to be careful and win on points... instead he wars it up and gets by far the better of it.
2. Gatti was still rated fairly highly, certainly moreso than when he was fighting Micky Ward.
3. The Manfredy loss could have been a hiccup, but the Robinson loss was the dealbreaker. Two bad losses in a row is not acceptable for a so called contender.
4. Manfredy was highly rated for a while, and got a title shot, while Robinson was really never rated too highly.
