At 31 he's still in his prime but he retires the minute legit welterweights call him out.
Retired before Cotto -Marg so regardless of the winner he was out of the equation, like Larry merchant said "I got nothing against you Floyd, I just want to know when your going to fight somebody decent".
People are angry and ODLH for turning down marg, they should be angry and floyd the lil bitch for retireing. He hasnt proved shit at 147 to make me think he could beat any of the top fighters. As we've seen Zab getting ruined by cotto and dominated by clottey too, all his top wins have been beaten and beaten worse than he beat them.
Yea, it was fun to watch Cotto quit like former Rican hero Tito and embarrass himself in front of millions, yea it was fun to watch his wife and child scream while Cotto face was bleeding and had the face of a demoralized slut.
...against a guy Floyd avoided like the plague.
No. Floyd didnt seem to really enjoy boxing that much to me. I think he wanted to make alot of money and retire undefeated. If he really cared about being an all time great he could have stuck around and beat some better guys. But I dont think he took a bitch way out. He can talk normal still after boxing and he has alot of money. He's 31 and he can retire. Not a bad way out.
margarito doesn't offer a threat to floyd. weak defense is the main concern. margarito isn't even the best fighter at 147. clottey and williams should be the fighters floyd should've fought.
Floyd would'nt even hurt Margarito. Although i feel Floyd could very will win a ud via pot-shot and run, it still doesnt mean he will certainly beat Margarito. Marg would continue to hunt Floyd down, and take Floyd's best shots just to get his in. Floyd's lack of power poses no threat to Margarito.
got to remember boxingscene is full of macho men
who expect fighters to just stand and punch each other till one dies and if they even think about moving from a punch .. there pussy
hes 31 and retired so what?
i bet if he was 38 still undeafeated u fruitcakes would say the same shit
ooo floyd retired to soon ... so and so is calling him out why is he ducking him blah blah
Man let Floyd live! He retired because of people like the topic creator. No matter who Floyd wouldve beat, it wouldn't be good enough. You see Floyd now and he is happy enjoying life and oh by the way he is rich! Wouldn't we all like to retire at 31? I can only hope in another 8 years I will be fortunate enough to do exactly what Floyd did.
I'm a Floyd fan, but I really wanted him to fight Cotto or Marg, and am dissapointed he didn't.
With you on that one. I am still holding on to the hope we might get 1 or 2 more fights out of him before he actually hangs them up for good. Just sucks he chose to stop right when he did, nobody wants to see him make a comeback and not be as good as he was before.
One thing that remains a fact is, he left right before facing the dangerous/top dogs at 147. That right there will harm his legacy. There's always going to be a ? at the end of his name.
Not really. Imagine he beats Margarito and Cotto, both. Then Margarito goes on to lose to Williams again, and Cotto loses to Margarito (this is no fantasy as you know but i while back i would be flamed by this). His legacy (and i hate that word of recent) lets just say his resume would look less brilliant and people would say and trust me they would, the exact same thing you are saying but times worse for him because they would actually be right. Cotto is incomplete and Margarito can be beat with speed and on points because he is a bit slow..
hahahahahahaha this coming from a calzaghe nuthugger. 43 and 40 year old has beens? no problem. retiring when you're won everything in several weight classes? bitch move. Whats wrong in retiring in your prime? Nothing wrong with that unless you are unproven. You boy Calzaghe at 36 IS STILL UNPROVEN (look at the polls made about it in NBS). WOW. No one decent? hahahaha he's fought who's who on most divisions he was in and even in his last he still got Rick Hatton, a younger, 43-0 undefeated CHAMPION. You can't get much better than that for a retirement fight. Oscar is fighting someone 3 divisions smaller and Calzaghe is on his second 40 year old, this time an even more shot fighter in Jones. Floyd was the best of our generation, like it or not punk.
are you angry?
no one mentioned calzaghe, keep on topic.
lets see where was we....oh yeah. Mayweather is a coward bitch. Carry on.
Yeah, he's done right by him. Dont cry and moan when u get criticized by the fans though. Fans want to see u prove yourself against the top comp. They dont care if u retire rich.
i'm looking at it from a human perspective, not necessarily a sports fan perspective. as a man it kills me to read stories about guys like wilfred benitez and jerry quarry (and way too many others).
you don't win fights on hypotheticalS.he's not a fantasy fighter.he's a pro boxer.you win boxing matches BY ACTUALLY FIGHTING THEM.
Exactly. By the Floydboy way of thinking, Tyson didnt even have to fight Buster Douglas because he "WOULD'VE" whooped him.
any pro who can retire financially secure with their health in tact has done the right thing in my opinion.

hate all u want but we all know 4 a fact cotto & margo. cant beat him so whats da point?
