Man was super blessed with athletic ability and was real flashy, but was he over and beyond others such as Tito,Oscar,Floyd,Hopkins???????????????????
I always felt that Jones benefited from a weak LHW divison where he was able to dominate just on superior athletic ability. Seriously, his toughest challenge at his LHW run was Virgil Hill, great win but hardly greatest of his generation.
I'd go for Lennox - he had the balance of skill and resume. He beat everyone of his era except Chicken Bowe.
wow you picked a british guy! surprise! lennox and calzaghe are very similar.
both have wins over 2 faded legends. holyfield and tyson-hopkins and jones.
both have gifts over faded legends. holyfield 2-hopkins.
both beat up and comers who turned out to be shit. lacy and kessler-grant and briggs.
both retired in the face of real challenges. vitali-dawson
UK BOXING! :birthday:
Roy jones is a great fighter....I dont deny that..!!!
He is one of the greatest....He is probably the top 3 Lhw of all time....
But he is not the greatest of this Generation...when you are comparing him to Floyd.
Mayweather is boxing’s best all-around fighter period.
Look @ his dominance over his opposition. Few fighters have ever been as statistically superior to his opponents than Mayweather, who rarely loses rounds, much less fights. A recent CompuBox analysis determined that the “Pretty Boy” leads the sport in “plus-minus” rating – and not by a little. The “plus-minus” is the difference between a fighter’s average connect percentage and that of his opponents, and Mayweather’s plus-30 (46 percent to 16 percent) is seven percentage points ahead of his closest competition, Juan Diaz, who owns a plus-23.
Mayweather’s rating compares favorably to the prime Roy Jones (plus-23) and Pernell Whitaker (plus-16). For the record
Look at this PBF stat.....

The guy is the greatest of this generation..!!!

Floyd Mayweather was ranked 8th On the P4P List and Number 1 in his Divison.... Only 2 years after turning Pro
(http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_1998)
Floyd Mayweather was ranked 2th on P4P List in Only 3 years of After turning Pro Number 1 in his Division
(http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_1999)

In a shorter period of time From a Ranking Stand Point Floyd Mayweather Has risen higher than anybody.

Roy was ****ing invincible he won the MW n HW titles and was P4P for close to 10 yrs... He wanted to fight Mike Tyson, he made boxers look foolish and went over what? 40 rounds without loseing a round? He's by far the greatest of are GEN next would be Floyd in my eyes then Hop...
Ruelas,Gonzalez,Chavez,Whitaker,Quartey,Vargas dont count??? He beat Tito and Mosley in the rematch but got stiffed on the decision, so i respectfully disagree.
You just threw a bunch of names out there. I mean, seriously, a little context helps. Throw Pacquiao in there too and in ten years that'll look wonderful.
Ruelas wasn't the best fighter in his division.
Neither was Gonzalez.
Chavez? Please.
Whitaker? Funny how you claim he beat Tito and Mosley but throw in Whitaker like a clear-cut win. I bet you think it is.
Quartey is arguably his best win.
Vargas? Vargas? Vargas's stock considerably when, in his bout following Tito, he was rocked and dropped by the old, light-hitting Wilfredo Rivera. Then stunned by that sparring partner.
It's been said before but needs to be said again - there's a reason why The Ring magazine had Tito ahead of Oscar in their top 80 rankings that came out around 2002. Funny how things change.
Really if this is the best you have then I stand by what I said, he doesn't belong in that conversation.
If it's top level opponents BEAT, then Oscar isn't in the discussion.
Ruelas,Gonzalez,Chavez,Whitaker,Quartey,Vargas dont count??? He beat Tito and Mosley in the rematch but got stiffed on the decision, so i respectfully disagree.
The real question is, whose resume is greater?
The only persons close are Hopkins and Pacquiao it's debatable.
If its top level opponents faced , then Oscar takes it.
