i got Hopkins
:boxing:
So Hopkins Was A Tired Old Man Against Calzaghe Then Suddenly A Few Months Later He Regains His Youthful Energy! Funny That, Couldn't Be Anything To Do With Calzaghe's Style Could It?
You're So Full Of Anger Aren't You, Having To Resort To Swearing, Do You Just Sit In Your Bedroom All Day Revelling In Your Hate And Dishing It Out On The Internet?
At Least Make Use Of The Good Weather You Have, I Live In Constant Rain And Am Still Happier Than You. :)

That's just your stupid opinion about Trinidad. Just tell me why Hopkins was holding and faking low blows against Calzaghe? Then looked like the second coming of Jesus against Pavlik.
Apart from his last fight, Hopkins has been boring people for most of his career, Calzaghe is an entertaining fighter with a unique style, and if he slaps, he must slap hard, look at Lacy's face after the fight.
:boxing:
What fighters do you have coming out of Australia? Billy the kid? Even the good ones have been born somewhere else.
LOL. Aaahhh, another one of you fkn goons.
This will be the last time I respond to you as you obviously know so little about boxing there really isn't a point.
Hopkins was faking low blows and holding against Joe because he was a tired old man. How did he look so good against Pavlik? I think it was a combination of BHop being better prepared and Kelly not being on the same level as Calzaghe. Calzaghe is a top class fighter no doubt, and Pavlik is a few notches below.
Hopkins has been boring most of his career? That is utter bullshit and shows that you haven't seen more than 1 or 2 of his fights.
Lastly, yeah so what, we don't produce many good fighters out here, what the fk has that got to do with anything? I am a boxing fan and I follow fighters from all over the world, I don't give a fk about Dib or any of the other shit fighters that come out of Australia. The fact that you even brought that up shows that you aren't a true fan of the sport.
I don't hate Joe at all but to be honest I am looking forward to him retiring, simply because it will get rid of utter cunts like yourself that just annoy those of us that actually know something about the sport.

Becuase His Left Wasnt That Good.. He Just Started Sitting Down On His Punches Since He Moved Up In Weight ..and Now Finally Hes A Two Hand Fighter Again...in A Rematch Believe Me Hopkins Would Beat Joe Convincingly ...joes Good ..HE EXPOSED LACY BUT LACY IS JUST AN AVERAGE FIGHTER..HES NOTHING

i Just Find It Funny How People (especially Americans) Continue To Criticize Calzaghe. He Beat Hopkins, Just Accept It, After A Good Punch In Round 1, The Only Thing Hopkins Wanted To Do Was Hold And Pretend To Get Hit With Low Blows. And Don't Make Me Laugh About His Wins Over Trinidad And De La Hoya, Blown Up Fighters Who Needed To Eat Lots Of Chips In Order To Make The Weight For Those Fights.
Having Said That, Hopkins Is An All Time Great For His Reign At Middleweight.
As For Calzaghe's Record, There Are Some Bums On It And If You Read His Book You'll See That It Pissed Him Off Having To Fight Certain Guys Instead Of Getting Unification Fights. However, He Demolished Lacy (remember American Friends, You Thought He Was The Next Big Thing, Don't Be Wise After The Event), He Beat Kessler, Who Is Now The Best Super-middleweight Around, He Beat Chris Eubank And He Beat Your Idol Hopkins, Like It Or Not. Face It, He Isn't Getting Beaten, Hopkins Has Lost Five Times.
:boxing:
We'll Know More After Jones...even Though Calzaghe Got Credited For A Win Over Hopkins. A Rematch Should Happen..if He Can Get By Jones... I Mean Hopkins Beat Tarver Winky Glenn Johnson Pavlik Was Robbed Against Taylor Once AND BEAT TRINIDAD AND DELAHOYA BACK WHEN HE WAS FRAIL..and He Learned How To Use His Left To Perfection. I Think Hes The Best Fighter In The World Right Now At 43...
I just find it funny how people (especially Americans) continue to criticize Calzaghe.
:boxing:
Trinidad at 160 is a better win than Lacy, kessler and eubank at 168 combined.
He isn't getting beaten? Sven Ottke didn't get beaten pal, is he better than Hopkins?

well...he Won, So Technically Speaking, You Pretty Much Have To Consider Him The "better" Fighter, At Least On That Night. There Are Alot Of Things Hopkins Is Good At, But Beating Calzaghe Wasn't One Of Them. It Was Fairly Obvious That Hopkins Knew If He Engaged Calzaghe He Wouldn't Win, Which Is Why He Chose The Method He Did, And It Was Probably His Best Chance At Beating Someone With Joe's Work Rate And Handspeed...it Just Didn't Work As Well As He'd Hoped. If Hopkins Had Hopened Up More So He Could Land More Shots, He'd Have Caught More As Well, And I Think It Would've Been A Wider Decision Without Any Question.
Yeah, I Know, Hopkins Gave Pavlik A Boxing Lesson, But On Top Of Being So Stylistically Different, Calzaghe Would've Done About The Same Thing To Pavlik That Hopkins Did...has Already, In Fact...and Yeah, I Also Know That None Of The Zaggs Haters Here Like To Hear The Name "kessler", But Kessler Is A Much More Complete Technical Boxer Than Pavlik, And Was Handled By Calzaghe In About The Same Manner, Though I Have To Say That I Did Actually Give Kessler A Couple Of Rounds, But Again...he's More Complete, Technically, Than Pavlik, So That's Not So Surprising. If You Guys Want To See How Much Better Kessler Is Than Pavlik, Petition For A Kessler/hopkins Matchup In January.
I Think That If Hopkins Were Able To Keep Up With Calzaghe's Work Rate, It'd Be A Great Fight, And I Just Don't Know How It'd Go, Honestly. It Wouldn't Be A Blowout Either Way, I Don't Believe, But I'm Also Not Convinced It Would Go Either Way For Certain. I Could Flip A Coin And Take A Guess, But Why Bother.
Hopkins Is A Legend And Pavlik Is A Great... Roy Is Inbetween And Toney Is A Great
Nah man this was sick, it was posters whose opinions I really respect and are usually right on the money. It blew my mind a little.
Well a heart can do crazy things to the brain. For even I am at fault for this.
The truth never lies, for this is where the heart plays the mind in a good game of chess......
Sometimes it takes time to realize this.....
Agreed.....
It's human nature to be gullible, you cant hold it against them.

You just have to compare the resumes. I don't wanna load up on the hate but you are basically comparing kessler and lacy (who, at this point, are not even great wins) and a 43 year old BHop with what? Trinidad, de la Hoya, Tarver, Pavlik, Wright as well as close losses to Roy Jones, Taylor and Calzaghe and a host of other fights against tough guys like Johnson and Echols.
I remember reading a thread on here a while back which compared the resumes of Calzaghe and BHop and concluded that they were about even. It was actually gaining momentum with reasonable posters agreeing with it. I was pretty disgusted.

is this a joke? Calzaghe at his best barely beat Hopkins at 43. it's not even debatable. Calzaghe is a horrible fighter when compared to B-Hop

Hopkins by a mile!! Hopkins is still a better fighter now. If Joe didn't throw 200 punches a round (150 miss) then he would have no chance. I even think B-Hop would win a rematch, especially after the renewed confidence from the Pavlik fight.
Hopkins wins this on about every level except actually beating Joe. Overall he takes it.
I don't understand why people say there's no interest in a Hop Calzaghe rematch. I think there would be, regardless if its a boring or not.
People want to see Hop again. Especially after the performance last weekend. Either way I think what ever fight is next for Hop it will do good on PPV etc.
If Joe "IS" fighting for the money he would make tons of it in a rematch with Hop and or Jones.
But to answer the question again. Hop takes this....
Out of the 3 in this triangle of vets, its Jones, Hop and Calzaghe IMO. That's not hate, that's a Majority decision.
It amazes me how people can discribe a guy with a 70%+ KO rate as a slapper...
On topic:
I think Hopkins has had a better career, while Calzaghe is a more skilled boxer.
Calzaghe has been cursed with an incredibly weak division and the worst promoter in the business, but he's beaten everyone they put in front of him, KO'ing most of them.
