Before losing to Tarver in the rematch, few had anyone ranked higher P4P than RJJ. He loses back to back KO's so he arguably gets booted off the list. BUT - should he beat Calzaghe, that would be 4-0 in his comebacks since losing those two. A for sure HOF'er in Tito and the undefeated JC? What do you guys think. IMO he goes to at least top 5, I'm not sure where I would put him, but he would be up there.
If Roy Jones does that hes definitely p4p number 1.
I just don't get that he can beat JC and be nowhere near the P4P list but as soon as he defeats Hop he is rocketed up to #1? Idk, I say if he beats JC, he has done enough to get on that list. Like I said, some people believe that if you knock off a #2 or a #1 fighter, then that automatically puts you on that list, but my question was, what happens when ODLH beats Pac who is recognized as #1? Does ODLH deserve to be top 10?
yeah but theres a big difference between Jones and Diaz. if Diaz beat Pac people wuld have said pac wasnt good at lightweight and it wasnt his natural weight bla bla. but if Jones beats an undefeated top 3 p4p fighter then it will be enough to get into the top 10, if he continues and beats hop after that then p4p number 1 unless someone acheives more in that span on time.
If Roy Jones does that hes definitely p4p number 1.
those rankings are all a sham, if Hatton beats Malinagi and DLH beats Pacman, they both will end up on the list setting up the next "super mega dollar fight between two of boxings p4p elites." DLH VS Hatton, I can see the headlines already.:nonono:
If Diaz would have beat Pacquiao, would he have took Pacquiaos top 3 P4p spot? No, same should go for Jones.
He has done nothing of late to even be considered a p4p fighter:
He let the smaller shot Trinidad go the distance with him. (his best win in years)
Beat Anthony Hansaw? Then Prince Badi Ajamu?? Not exactly anything p4p about that.
Tarver- LOSS
Glen Johnson- LOSS: Got knocked out badly.
Tarver- LOSS: Got knocked out badly.
Even if Jones were to win he shouldnt be anywhere near a top 10 p4p list, 15 maybe. A Calzaghe win for him would be great. Most likey one of the best fighters hes ever been in with. But the P4P list is for fighters who consistantly win and against good competion.
If he beats Calzaghe then follows with another good win, no doubt about it.
Chad Dawson should be in the top 10. He deserves it much more. Paul Williams and Shane Mosley are in the running too.

I did'nt say Hatton deserved the P4P list. I'm just a fan. No shame in losing to the best fighter of this decade either, IMO. One interresting thing is that Hatton was only dropped from the list when he beat Lazcano and not after the Mayweather defeat. That kinda gives an insight to the way the rankings work, huh.
Joe will probably stay on the list, just below Jones if that happens. A guy can hope cant he? LOL
I was just messin around, and im sure who ever determines the p4p rankings are a fan of the sport and certain boxers, has to influence their descesion one way or the other.

There are a lot of variables that go into this like how bad does he beat Joe? Basically I think a win over Calzaghe would have to put Roy on the list, what position I'm not sure of.
Even if Joe loses, if not by KO, he stays in the top 10. My opinion only though. Jones should be placed between 3-10 somewhere. Marquez brothers are overrated. They have both lost at least once in their last 3 fights and should not be in the top 5. Rafael should not be in the top 10 at all.
Marquez brothers overrated??? Says the guy with Ricky Hatton on his favorite fighters list....just playing man. Marquez brothers are warriors though. :boxing:
pac will still stay number 1 if DLH beats him, i think the experts know that
I never said Pacman gets off the list, I said that going with the logic that if RJJ beats the #2 guy he is def. on the p4p list, that would also mean that if DLH beat the #1 Pac DLH is def. a top 5 p4p. Not saying I agree, thats according to some of the reasons givin as to why RJJ would def. be top 5 if he beats joe. That would mean 2 new guys on the top 5, so 2 previous fighters out.
Cotto, Calderon, and Rafa are all easily displaced, seeing as Rafa lost his last two fights, Cotto just suffered a knockout loss, and Calderon, while a great boxer, has not faced top ten p4p opposition.
Hardly Calderon's fault, hard to fight a P4p top 10 fighter when no one in his weightclass is P4p top 10
Those who think he will not make it back on the top 10, please explain. This isn't a bash you thread if you disagree, I would just like to see the logic behind it.
I dont think he would cause he isnt even the best at his weight. If he wins its cause he has the tools to beat joe but he cant even beat a tarver or johnson if they were to fight again so no he shouldnt be in the p4p. Plus Joe shouldnt really be that high up either.
Jones is gonna beat an average joe.
hahahha
So does DLH get on the list if he beats Pac?? Then you gotta take two guys off the current list. Tricky stuff, I dont like how 1 win or lose can put you on or bump you off the list, but hey who am I.

I don't think he should get to be top 5, sure he beat the #2 guy but the pound for pound list for me isn't about winning one big fight it's about being consistent and making yourself look like P4P material by beating the best over and over and proving you are a force to be reckoned with. RJJ, while being one of my favourite boxers of all time, has not done that and has faced lackluster competition for a long time.
For me he would creep onto the list at 10, 9 or 8. It depends how he defeats Calzaghe ultimatley. If he knocks out Calzaghe i would put him top 5 but i can't see that happening.
i dont see why he wouldn't
he's gonna beat the disputed P4P #1 right now(depends if u love him or hate him)

I can sorta agree with this, but it depends on whose p4p list you're going by. If you're putting a new guy in the top ten, then you're moving someone else out. Here is Ring Magazine's p4p right now. Who would you displace off of this list?
1 MANNY PACQUIAO
2 JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ
3 JOE CALZAGHE
4 BERNARD HOPKINS
5 ISRAEL VAZQUEZ
6 ANTONIO MARGARITO
7 CRISTIAN MIJARES
8 RAFAEL MARQUEZ
9 MIGUEL COTTO
10 IVAN CALDERON

My only issue with people saying if you beat a number 2 p4p then you should be granted a spot, is what happens when ODLH beats Pac? Given he is #1 and it's a joke fight, will Oscar be top 3-5? We all know he is definitely not a top 3-5 P4P anymore so that logic is hard for me to grasp.
