Because millions go to watch a movie at the cinema and millions more buy the dvd. Movies have a much larger audience so they can sell them cheap and still make a profit couldnt stop laughing at the pic u got of paul williams..s**t funny.

Why is it that we have to dish out $50 (PPVs) to watch something that only costs tens of millions of dollars to produce, while on the other hand, we only have to pay (on average) about $10 to watch a movie that costs hundreds of millions of dollars? I am not referring to a specific match or movie but for the sake of argument, let's use Mayweather-Hatton and The Dark Knight as examples. Why? Because they've discovered that people will pay it, that's why. When people stop paying that price for a PPV "event", they'll start getting right with their prices. Also consider that the promoters end up with the lion's share of any profits. I don't believe in socialism, but I really would like to see a cap on the money these guys make from their fighters. Anything over 10% after reasonable expenses is robbery and they should be prosecuted. Some of these pricks have taken 50% or more of their fighter's money, all of it in a few instances, and Don King is one of the leaders of the robber barons. Killing is too good for that bastard, I tell you.

dude, rewatch the old power rangers. not the shitty new ones. the Pink Ranger, Kimberley, shes hot. no wonder I liked her as a kid. I mean really, that number makes me sick. they need to bring the price down. only really high profile fights should be that much. no one is gonna buy a lesser ppv when its 50 bucks... True, what's ironic is I was talking about the same thing in my economics class today and how to calculate what will happen when you change price (whether you'll make more profit or less) using Price elasticity of Demand...... but I need to have a test subject to calculate it (i need to know the change in demand) You, T and myself are all on the same brain wave length.

True. I have to wonder if they would end up making more money if they charged a bit less though. For me to spend 50 bucks on a PPV it has to be a big fight that I really want to see. If PPVs were only like 25 bucks I'd probably buy all of them so they would end up making more money off a guy like me. That's precisely the point I was making. I have passed up a lot of fights because I just didn't think it was worth 50 dollars. 25 dollars is a lot easier for me to justify and I would probably buy them every single time if they only cost that much. I think HBO are worried that they will half they price, but not get double the amount of people watching. So they won't make as much money, and at the end of the day they just want as much money as they can get. :fu2: Damn you HBO.
