does anyone here feel the same way as me? that for me only 2 marquee names (pavlik and abraham) are here in this division and that this division should get busy as history would tell us, this division has maybe produced the best boxers and exciting fights.
or maybe a prospect should come up and challenge the best that this division has to offer.
Yeah, 154 isn't great either, but I think that there are better prospects there (especially if you can count 33 year old Martinez as prospect). Kirkland, Angulo, Joel Julio and a couple of others should make things interesting down the line.
out of those prospects, i have only seen kirkland fight. he has a huge upside on him and a lot of potential but he needs more polishing with his skills and he tends to throw wide punches. how bout the other prospects? are they any good?
just like the light middleweight division right now. damn! somebody needs to step up, this is the problem with pavlik now in terms of proving hios worth as a middleweight if he elects to stay at the weight, is he lacks the quality of opponents that is needed to get respect and even recognition. i hope before AA moves up to super middle, he should fight pavlik first or maybe even fight at 168 who knowS?
The division will pick up again sooner or later, it's a cycle that happens in pretty much every division in boxing.
The best prospect that says he wants to fight at 160 is Danny Jacobs right now IMO but he fought at 166 in his last fight so he could be campaigning at 168.
