I've been to his hometown and its pretty depressed. Most of the rust belt states are hard hit, but Ohio is worse than PA and that's saying something. I wonder if the worsening economy for the area pushed his team to make the mistake of throwing him in with a HOF like B-hop? Think about the pressure of making sure your team is financially taken care of and you know he's got a lot of family/friends with outstretched hands. Just a thought.

I'm pretty sure following a few high profile fights Pavlik isn't exactly on the breadline. What, six fights on HBO, four of which were headliners in the last two years? He's not Making Oscar - Hatton - Mayweather cash but he's not exactly begging in the street.
nah. They and pretty much everyone else thought it was a sure win. They didn't expect bhops to fight like he did. If they did, they wouldn't have taken the fight.
And remember, hopkins certainly wasn't the first choice. Calzaghe/Abraham both had obligations, Paul Williams fell apart. Allen Green fell apart. Winky fell apart. But Hopkins was there. And old as ****! They thought it was going to be easy pickings! And most people felt the same way, it's not like they threw him in with a young hungry lion.
Pavlick's people are supposed to be professionals. When has Hopkins ever been easy? Even when he loses he makes the winner look bad. To me Hopkins should have been the last person in the ring with a young boxer like Moby. Had he pulled off a win, it would've been against an old man. For the record I was pulling for Hopkins, but thought he'd be lucky to just not get KO'ed.
