I understand that alot of they Arreola hope/hype stems from him being the only real american hw that hasn't gotten a shot and failed yet (Thompson,Chambers,Ruiz).
In his fight with Chazz i remember the announcers saying Chazz had only been boxing a few years, i expected them to say the same for Chris, when they mentioned that Arreola had been boxing since he was like 12 i was blown away. How can you do somthing for more then half your life and not even be able to grasp the fundementals.
-He SEEMS to have a chin but it hasn't truly been tested yet
-He leans forward from the waist like he's checking to see if his shoe-laces are tied up, He'll get decapitated against anyone with half a brain and a good uppercut in their arsenal
-He cocks his elbow out when he's throwing punches alot of the time, looks weird but does seem to have some power in spite of this
basically he's tough and will take a good beating but any real top ten guy will school him, face it there doesn't seem to be any legitimate American heavies, deal with it and stop pumping this ****in guy.
I'm Always going to root for Slavic fighters but i'm also rational about it Dimitrenko,Boytsov,Bidenko,Ustinov all have shortcomings but there is real substance, talent and potential. Oleg Platov on the other hand, while i'm a fan i realize he is limited and probably won't ever be a serious contender, just a tought SOB who can throw bombs and entertain. Please try to be real with this stuff, the Arreola hype is getting annoying.
I might be biased but I've seen him fight and seen him get hit alot Anyone at any time can pack a punch. I have seen Chris get hit hard plenty of times enough so I thought he was going to lose. I've watched him take a beating more than once. I would not be doing all this talking I have on this site if I had any doubts of what I've said. I do NOT want to make a fool out of myself.
well thaat doesnt bode too well for him if he's taken a lot of punishment from just journeymen type opponents. whats going to hapeen when he fights the more accurate sharper punchers such as the klits,,,chageav,,dimentriko etc. anyway,,I like him,,he's fun to watch but I just cant see him getting by the top guys. we'll see
come on man. youre clearly being biased here. Im not talking big names here. the fact is he hasnt faced a good puncher yet. until he does there's no proof he has a good chin

Chris's chin has been tested I've seen it . He also has been hit very hard. You do not have to have a big name to be able to land good punches. I have seen him get hit and hard he can take a punch. If you would have seen as many of his fights as I have you would know he can take a punch. I've been at a few of his fights were he got the **** out of him and he still won by KO. Chris's biggest asset is he has heart and he's hungry that will take you along way,add his skill just equals one thing HW champ of the world I do not know Chris by watching on tv a couple of times I know by being at his fights and actually seeing whay he can do.

his chin is still untested. he hasnt faced a big puncher yet

The 'jury's still out' on whether Arreola is a bonafide contender or overhyped brawler. Boxing fans should find out in November when he faces another up-and-coming prospect/contender Travis Walker...
Have any of you actually seen Chris fight in person? Do you know how he trains for each fight? I have and I do. I have also seen Travis a few times in person. Travis is a very good fighter,Chris is just better. I'll be in the first row on 11/29 when he beats Walker with ease. You all seem to knock someone that you really do not know anything about. Chris trains as much as he needs to for each fight. I might not agree with that but, I've seen what he can do and, it works for him. I have seen him get nailed a few times and he can take a punch and when he let's go whoever is fighting him is in alot of trouble. All the guys at HBO seem to have alot of praise for Chris. You must know something they or myself does not know.
his chin is still untested. he hasnt faced a big puncher yet
What's important when two contender like this go to war jus like wit Chazz vs. Arreola or Chambers vs. Povetkin is that both fighters move on after it and keep fightin ya kno? Worse thing to do is retire and call it quits after losin to a good contender.
Doode we on the same page....that's what I said on an earlier post but I guess there's just real THICK headed people out there who just don't get it!
I have been to a few of his fights were he gets tagged bad. He can take a punch great. There was one fight early in his carrer that he was getting the crap beat out of him for about 3 rounds then he woke up and the fight was over,so I know he can take a punch well. Alot of people that I know who have been in boxing for years and years think highly of Chris. We will all see on 11/29 I'll be in the first row ringside watching him WIN. If you knew Chris you would know Alex and Danae is in his heart and that is all he needs to have the will to be the next Heavyweight champ
Why is a heavyweight with good punching power, an iron chin and a high workrate being dissed? I thought that's what boxing fans have been looking for. If you'd rather see the Klitschkos jab their opponents for as long as they last then I don't understand your concepts of boxing. I've seen Arreola's last two fights and I like his agression and the way he puts combinations together. For someone that's supposedly open for uppercuts this guy sure knows how to set his opponent up for his own uppercuts.
I'm not saying he's the next best thing, but I can see him coming a long way. The biggest difference between him and Thompson and Brock is that he's got a chin and hasn't tasted the canvas
Hey he is an entertaining buzzsaw in the ring, throws lots of punches with good power and fights at a good pace.
What is not to like? The heavyweight division could use more like him. He definitely is worth the ticket price anyway. He brings some excitement for an American Heavyweight which is very needed right now.
How far he will go is anyone's guess. Why not just enjoy the ride? It may last, it may not. The ride is usually better than the destination anyway.
He's a solid fighter who is very entertaining but his training habits and his lack of size compared to the big heavyweights might make it difficult for him to hang with him given his style. I can see him having a decent punchers chance against Wlad since he is very active, can take a punch, and Wlad's chin can be problematic. Vitali is a whole other story.
I would just label Arreola as a solid heavy weight who can entertain and can go far if he picks the right fights and trains for them, but he hasn't been dealt the best cards when it comes to size or skill, maybe work ethic either.
Maybe in about 3 or 4 years. I like Chris, I think he has a lot of heart, he keeps his guard up and seems to have a decent chin and pretty good punch. He looks like he's out of shape but doesn't seem to slow down as the fight goes on. He's still pretty rough around the edges which is surprising considering how many amateur fights he had (over 300.) If the HW division is anywhere near as bad as people say it is, he'll have a title within 2 years.
In 3 or 4 years Vitali wil be what 43 I say he could defintely beat him then lol. Honestly the guys an entertaining fighter with a good punch and a puncher alwas has a chance. Even against a skilled fighter he has a chance. We will see once he is batte tested with a bigger name and better exposure.
You most know more than all the guys at HBO and Showtime. They seem to have alot of praise for Chris. I've been a boxing fan for almost 50 years they have been brodcasting for years .Ring magazine likes him too. I have talked with James Toney about Chris, he thinks he is good, I guess you have been to more of his fights then We have and you know something we don't
Hey papito take it easy, some ppl say dumb stuff here man ya gotta learn to ignore it. Arreola is the best american heavyweight and anyone who tells ya different is wrong. I think other guys have more potential to be better then im but ya kno, righ now Arreola is the best aiight? Now, dude is a slow power puncher who's overweight...that's jus the way it is and who he chooses to be. I think Walker and him will be one of the most entertainin heavyweight fights of the year and but I think Walker bein underrated. He's got good power but head hunts too much, dude shud work the body especially wit Arreola's soft body.

Showtime, HBO, and Ring have liked fighters that never made it big in the past and were exposed when they reached the higher stage, this wouldn't be close to the first time this has happened.
So please forgive me if I do not treat HBO, Showtime, and Ring like the gods of boxing knowledge like you would like. I guess maybe I do know something you don't.
Naw he's not on Tysons level skill wise of course, but he's exciting and does some amazing things with his hands somehwhat like tyson.. If he can face off with some one like Chagev and win a title he could gain some real cred and media attention plus if he loses 40 pounds!
^^ same he will get shot at the title, since hes the only heavyweight prospect we have left. But him beating vlad or wlad to me isn't possible.I give him a 2 out of 10 chance of beating them.I just don't see it happening.
Arreola is no good!!!

kill yourself
he is nowhere near mike tyson's level.
Kill yourself what kind of stupid comment is that? How old are you 5. I know Chris and he does remind me a mellow Tyson. When you have seen someone fight in person and know how they train is alot different than sitting at a TV. Chris trains as much as he needs to for who he is fighting,I don't agree with that but it works. I have been to alot of Chris's fights and a few of Walker's. Chris without any doubt will win.
