I don't believe Jack Loew can further develop Kelly. He needs a trainer to show him new things.
Kelly's biggest asset is his consistency, which has gotten him this far.
I understand Jacko and Kelly have great chemistry but that can only take you so far.
Loew said that if Pav licks wasn't sick and didn't have a elbow injury....he would have beat BHop and because of this...there no reason to change anything.
I hope that Kelly has had some time to think about this...Lowe has got to go!!!
Pavlik was exposed and now all the elite fighters will now how to beat him but at least with a new trainer, the mid card guys won't be using the B-Hop formula to expose him further.
Pavlik is pretty much finished...160 is dead apart from Abraham (who will be moving up soon) and Sturm (who won't fight him).
the rest of 160 is full of cab drivers and untested prospect, Pavlik has to move up but he can't because he been exposed.
When we talk about 168-175...Pavlik is in the discussion.....Lowe must be removed from the equation for a safe and secure transition to begin.
i never liked lowe he runs his mouth and kelly is not the type of fighter that runs his mouth but yet his trainer is always talkin about kelly knocking somebody out or how someone is ducking kelly.
what lowe needs to do is learn the game beacuse as a trainer he doesn't know how to adjust , doubling up the jab is his solution to everything
i would say an assistant trainer would be good(becasue i doubt everything loew does is wrong, and ultimately, he brought him this far)......miguel diaz kinda is that but only in the corner, he need someone who adds to his game in the gym as well.....some cunt that can teach him to cut off the ring and work inside...
Pavlik is not the greatest boxer who ever lived, he is a brawler more then a boxer with a good double-jab(didn't work against hopkins because of the styles) and a straight right hand. He is similar to Kessler but I'd say Kessler is the better boxer overall, but this is just my opinion.
When a boxer is thoroughly outclassed and humiliated like Pav was against BHop, it's the trainer's fault. Jack Loew is and always has been a bad trainer. He is absolutely clueless about boxing. He has succeeded in doing the impossible: letting a potential hall-of-famer (Pavlik) get demolished. Pavlik has great qualities and potential, as BHop told him after the fight. I think BHop has very little respect for Jack Loew, or else he wouldn't have given Kelly advice in front of him. I wish Pavlik would see the light and get a real trainer who will let him fight against some slick boxers. Loew put Pavlik against BHop before having him face a few lesser slicksters. Huge mistake.
I only know him through his work with Pavlik, dont rate him.
He looked like he couldnt pick Kelly up mentally or offer much tactical advice IMO, Im not big on "Oh it was the trainers fault blame him get me someone else!" thing but i feel here is a good time for a switch
Kelly really looked limited in that fight. He needs new ideas. He can't always go by strength to win fights against the best because some of them would know how to deal with it.
Loew said pre fight Pavlik was healthier than ever and stronger and their not chasing the money. He said post fight Pavliks not right at 170 and they've chased the money and it failed. Pavliks a very big and tall MW whom should be able to be roughly as good at 170, especially if he's as good as people say he is. The weight issue was fine before then suddenly an excuse. There was also only 6 lbs difference in weight on fight night (pretty average in a lot of fights) and Pavlik was taller and has a reach advantage.
Loew said they had a plan A, B, C, D. He did not suggest what any of these might be. It was plain to see during the fight there were no discussed plans, as he did not say now do this thing we talked about, this isn't working do this. All he said repeatedly was double up on the jab. He couldn't because of movement and styles of both Jack, so say something else useful. He couldn't.
He said punch lots like Calzaghe did. If you don't know that your fighter has a different style and capability then another fighter, then that's very concerning. By this point Kelly was clearly seriously behind on points and unlikely to tip the balance to such a degree he could take a decision anyway. Kelly clearly couldn't get to Hops, his best chance was getting fewer shots in with pace.
From the post fight interviews they've mentioned issues, and there's clearly some issues in the camp. Pavliks using weird triangle theories and doesn't understand why he wasn't himself in there, you couldn't be because you couldn't get to a slick boxer Kelly, how could you not realise that post fight, let alone not before. Jack had little to say as to their failings citing weight only, he clearly has a serious lack of perception, insight or answers as to what's going on with his fighter.
Kelly un doubtedly needs to get a new trainer, no shadow of a doubt.
Great post.
He and his camp were saying the same kind of things for the Taylor rematch.
"Well, now I can eat pasta and other things" "if anything, I am going to be stronger and faster, i dont have to be on the treadmill the day before the weigh in getting the extra weight off",etc.etc.
He looked sluggish at 166 and horrendous at 170.
His camp needs to be revamped, new trainer, new nutritionist.

Although, in Loew' defense, Pavlik wasn't working the double jab like he should have been, and he was timid with the right hand. But I definitely think Jack Loew has taken Kelly Pavlik as far as he can (and really, there's no shame in cultivating a popular, dynamic middleweight champion from scratch).
