When you have guys like Margarito and Pavlik in the top 10, you know boxing is hurting. They are solid, tough fighters, but they lack so many fundamentals it's almost embarrassing to see their names up there with the best of the best.
Pound for pound is based on wins and losses in part, so it's not wrong to have those guys in there. It just says boxing is pretty weak right now. Mayweather leaving really gave that list a major hit.
Shit, Calzaghe at number 2 looks bad. A slapper is the second best fighter in the world? I got him as 2, I'm just saying it's embarrassing for our sport.
I'm glad to see B-Hop back up in the top 3-5 range, but he's 43 years old! Boxing is hurting, and hopefully some of the young guys can keep developing into great fighters to turn this thing around.
Boxing hurts from having guys like Pavlik and Margarito in the list in the sense that they aren't really good boxers at all, just strong willed fighters with good chins who never stop punching. But they're gonna lose every time against somebody who knows how to box and brings at least a decent chin. It makes the sport exciting having them, but among the 10 best in the world? That's just sad
This is one of the few times I agree with u fam..
Very very true..
Margarito will soon be out of that list..
Pavlik will probably get back in there again
Dawson will be p4p 1 ina few years..
Guzman would've been in there soon but he blew it for himself and you know what i dont even feel sorry for him.. I'm a big fan but im still mad at the mofo.
Dawson really does deserve to be in the top 10 or just outside of it. Can't believe I forgot him since he fought just last week. I think Dawson is better than Pavlik, Margarito, and Cotto any day of the week. They've just beaten bigger names is all. Well, Margarito hasn't, but the others have beaten bigger names
And yeah I would put Marquez above Calzaghe as well, so good call on number 3. If I did a pound for pound list right now, it would be something like
1. Pacquiao
2. JM Marquez
3. Calzaghe
4. Hopkins
those are solid and pretty much non-debatable. the rest are hardly impressive and could be switched around so much, who even cares?
5. Vazquez
6. Pavlik
7. Taylor (only lost to Pavlik, I thought he won the second fight)
8. Cotto (losing to Margarito is a lot worse than losing to Pavlik)
9. Rafael Marquez I guess??
10. Paul Williams
honestly, Williams and Pacquiao are the best definitions of pound for pound as they move up in weight constantly knocking guys out. Williams is probably the real pound for pound fighter in the whole list since he's been fighting between 3 different weights and KOing guys in one round
For slapping the way Calzaghe does and everyone attacking him, he has had tough as nail fighters like hopkins against the ropes, and kessler, and lacy... That is one hell of a slapper :boxing:
His biggest win is Hopkins and it was a nail biter that a lot of people had him losing. Lacy and Kessler haven't accomplished anything, so they can't be counted as big wins. However, the WAY Calzaghe dominated them is what makes it impressive. Why the hell does Kessler get so much hype? Lacy has accomplished more than Kessler has. Kessler's biggest win is like Markus Beyer or some shit

How about knowing the p4p list your talking about?
Calzaghe's #3 and has been for some weeks now.
I agree Pavlik, Margarito and Cotto have jumped around the p4p too much, too volatile. If guys were truly top ten there's stay there for longer.
Couldn't agree with you more, imagine if Roy beats Calzaghe or Oscar beats Pacquiao. That would be 2 legends of the 90's beating the p4p #1(Pac) and #2(Calzaghe)
These are the only guys I even feel remotely comfortable saying are among the 10 best fighters in the world right now
Pacquiao, Calzaghe, Juan Manuel Marquez, Hopkins, Vazquez
that deeply concerns me
