Plan A - turn up.
Plan B - throw the double jab.
Plan C - Set up a big upper cut.
Plan D - take him out late when he's tired.
Loew's boxing brain and tactician ing, combined with a 1 dimensional Pavlik, are a force to be reckoned with.
Did you all notice how resigned Loew became to fact it was over. Before the 10th round he was more focused on giving Kelly some water. The cut dude (forget his name) started blabbing on instead. I thought I even heard him say 'You won't lose your championship Kelly. You cant lose them.'
I hope I was hearing things..
I heard that too, reminiscent of Jess Willard against Dempsey, "I've still got my farm in Kansas, I've still got my farm in Kansas" :lol1:
Lovely.
What the **** were they again?
Plan A was to out work Hopkins.
Plan B was to get hit with the right hand
Plan C was to get hit with the left hook
Plan D was to be able to get hit with 4-5 punch combonations from a 43 year old man
See? He had them.
No, you were not hearing things. He said " you can't lose your championship, you are just losing a fight".
They're crazy. If they'd already given up, what hope did they have of motivating Kelly.
lol i was pissing myself brother Nazim was telling Hopkins how to employ his right hand later on in the fight, and it worked a treat, Hopkins in the latter rounds used his right hand to great effect and opened up a cut.
Loew kept telling him to double jab what a flipping idiot, it was obvious that by round 6 Pavlik couldn't get the double jab and instead of telling his fighter something else, like maybe try a feint(!), try and throw upper cuts on the inside and maybe throw punches when Hopkins is on the ropes. Loew just carried on spouting the same sh!t, when that didn't work he just left the main duties to the cutman!!!
and youre right they turned around and said to him dont worry you're not losing your championship its just this fight!!! lol!!
i think Pavlik needs to get himself to another trainer, if not at the very least he needs to get himself a good conditioner, one who can get him to carry the extra weight, pack on some real muscle and carry his power as he moves higher up the weight classes.
Its just going to be a matter of time before he gets too big for 160, when he does move up he needs to carry his power.
i guess it shows how amateurish his corner really are in the build up to the fight, whenever they were questioned about the weight limit for the fight the response was something along the lines of i should be healthier as i will be able to eat more!! WTF!!!!

yep, he looks ineffective on the inside.
A fight with Kessler or Abraham would still be close though.
Definitely. I'm more willing to pick him over Abraham though.
Pavlik isn't an inside fighter, most of his punches on the inside end up being slaps because he's not used to shortening up his punches, apart from his right hook to the body which is a good punch on the inside. This is part of the reason why I think he should think about getting someone new to take over main training duties, he needs to improve in these areas if he wants to get to the next level.

He needs to get in close and shorten his punches right up.
Calzaghe was literally stabbing Hopkins with little shots like a bayonnet. At least they landing, scoring and making Hopkins counter, move and taking him out his comfort zone and ultimately making him dog tired.
Calzaghe is a veteran who knows how to win even when he's having a hard night, Pavlik is a bulldozer, a good one, but thats what he is

Jab right hand, double jab right hand, jab right hand to the body. It's all I could think of.
He needed to get in close and shorten his punches right up. I don't think he had the footspeed, the head movement or the ability to come in in angles. After the fight it looks like a horrible style match up for Pav. lol.

I think they got stuck on more fundamental aspects of boxing to even get plan A going.
Loew was imploring him to double up on the jab and Pavlik retorted; stop talking about my flab.
Jab right hand, double jab right hand, jab right hand to the body. It's all I could think of.
Didn't you hear jack loew to hit Hopkins in the balls?
Jack Loew= :asshole:
Did anyone else notice Jack Loew told Kelly Pavlik to use dirty tactics and Pavlik refused? Loew told Pavlik to hit Hopkins in his dick, Loew is a cunt... Pavlik atleast isn't like his shit trainer who only got this far because Pavliks a tough son of a bitch even if he ain't an elite.
A,B,C and D are identical. Come in in straight lines and throw long straight punches.
All Loew said in the corner was 'throw the double jab'
Every time he threw that shit he got nailed. Jack Loew makes Enzo Calzaghe seem like the god of all trainers.
