You have got to be fucking kidding me. Of course he could've but he chose not to. Jones even carried opponents in his prime, he wanted the rounds against Tito to shake off whatever rust was left (plus he had a torn left bicep).
I think he has a good chance at having Calzaghe hurt at times, not so sure he can knock him out cold. You never know though, Joe is pretty open at times and Roy still posseses blazing handspeed and accuracy.
I think that Roy was looking at another legend, past his prime - and did he want to let him go out on his feet, I think it could be. Maybe he couldn't do it,maybe he couldn't KO Roy, but he did say he didn't want to Holy because he said he knew Holy was past his prime and not the same fighter he was before - and that was before Toney beat him up. Roy may not have been able to KO Tito - but I think he is a thoughtful guy - and likely realized who was in front of him. Roy looked great that night and seemed to be landing at will, but only Roy will ever know if he gave it all or held back.
I doubt either guy knocks the either out. Jones fights in spurts now so I doubt it. Calzaghe doesn't put much power behind his punches. I'd be shocked in a KO from either fighter.
I fully agree with you on that one.
Also to say he couldnt KO Tito is something of a fair statement, Jones seemed to be capable of KOing many opponents during his prime and ended up going the distance.
I'm a big Tito fan, I used to follow him befor he got a belt. However I thought he was gonna get KO'd at any minute towards the end of fight. I was surprised he made it to the final bell. I guess what leads me to believe Roy let Tito off the hook is that Roy never looked the same after what happened to his friend Gerald.
fighters take more punishment fighting more rounds than just getting ko'd early.that excuse bullshit.

Just seemed that Roy was content to take it to the cards and not win the fight in spectacular fashion. Tito really didn't look good towards the end of the fight and I felt like he was ready to go at any moment. Maybe I'm wrong and Roy was just to tired to press the action, but to me it looked like Roy didn't want to punish Tito more then was neccessary.
Interesting. Maybe you're right, I don't know.

That seems bizarre to me. Why would any fighter take it easy on his opponent, especially when he'd promised to KO him in 4 rounds or less? Personally, if I had the capability to KO my opponent, I'd do it, because all the time you're in the ring with anyone who is semi-competent you're in danger of being knocked out yourself. Tito is a proven hard puncher. So why would Roy Jones let Tito off the hook? I'm just trying to understand your comment / opinion because I'm genuinely interested. Until I hear a valid reason --without an obvious bias for a particular fighter-- I will stick to my belief that Roy Jones doesn't have it in him to knock people out nowadays.

Seriously I think Jones could have tore Tito a new ass and decided to let off the gas. I respect Jones for doing it but I think that it would have been better if he hadn't. The way I see it, you never ever give your opponent a chance in getting back into the fight.

Chronologically we're the same age (big emphasis on chronologically)
I'm not making myself sound stupid. The point I was trying to make (and you obviously arent seeing it) is that there's no need to come in here talking about "shut the fuck up" and all this other shit.
Saying shit like that is stupid. Cause he can't KO Tito. He could'nt. He tried and failed.
Its annoying when people say shit like that, as if they know what the fighter is capable of doing, when they don't.

How do YOU know that Roy could've KO'ed Tito?
Come on.. Tell me.. Did he call you during the fight? Texted you?
:nonono:
Stop it with the bullshit thread. Calzaghe Vs Jones will go the distance.

I think I agree.
What was worrying is that he took 4 rounds to then decide to take it to Tito once he felt his punches on his arms and gloves and suitably dismissed him as a legitimate threat. He probably won't do that against Calzaghe because he should feel confident of taking Joe's shots at this stage of Joe's career. But if he starts of that slowly against Joe he's lost before it has begun and won't find a way into the fight imo.
I agree, Roy can't start slowly against Joe.
