I dont think so baby, because Tyson beats giants, while Klistko beats up Dwarfs. LOL
Tyson was 5'10, Klitschko is 6'6. Of course Tyson's opponents are gonna look bigger and Wladimir's opponents smaller. If Wlad was 5'10, he would be fighting giants too.
Also Holmes in the nineties outboxed Ray Mercer and went the distance with Tyson's old sparring partner,Oliver McCall.
The seventies heavweight division was the best.Of the fighters who made a big noise in the division during that period you had Ali,Foreman,Frazier,Norton, Holmes leading the pack and then you have Shavers,Bugner,Jimmy Young,Bonavena ,Jerry Quarry and Ron Lyle among others.
The most talented fighters from the late seventies blew themselves out.John Tate was mentally destroyed by Mike Weaver, Cooney never recovered from the realisation that he was not the second coming of Marciano and Tim Witherspoon committed career suicide against Bonecrusher Smith, just so that Don King wouldn't be able to take anymore of his money.
What was left in the heavyweight division was a bunch of solid big guys and a few other smaller or less powerful technicians.Tyson just blew most of them away convincingly.
BTW if Spinks could outbox Larry Holmes,in their first fight, and destroy Cooney, I would give him a decent chance of otboxing and hurting the Klitschkos-or at least Wlad.He was a bigger man than Roy Jones Jnr,in case you are wondering. :boxing:
Today's division is much weaker by far.
In Tyson's day you had
Larry Holmes (past his best but still took a prime Evander Holyfield all the way AFTER he got ko'd by Tyson)
Tyrell Biggs - gold medalist
Tony Tucker - very good
James Smith - good
Frank Bruno - 95% KO ratio. Massive power.
Michael Spinks - vastly under-rated.
Most of these guys would possibly lose to Vitali but I'd give them a very good chance against Wladimir. Can you say that about today's HW's who look frightened to be in the ring with either Klitschko?
IMO another question should be asked is. as a boxing fan, what era of heavyweight boxing would you prefer the tyson of klitschko's? in terms of: excitement, opponents etc
The heavyweight division sucks the worst now than it ever has. Wlad is insanely overrated and would have gotten destroyed by Tyson if that's what you're asking.
Take your pick...

When people used to say the Heavyweight division was crap in the Eighties,I thought they meant it was crap, compared to the Seventies....
Its pretty close. It amazes me how people cry about how weak the Heavyweight division is and yearn for the days of Tyson - when the division was just as, if not more shit during his prime.
Well technically I dont like to count Holyfield cause he was still fighting lighter when Tyson was already the undisputed King of the Universe.
Holyfield was a top heavyweight by 1989, he had his fight against Dokes that year which is often said to be the best HW fight of the 80's.
There were a lot of talented but undedicated heavyweights in the 80's.
The fighters Tyson beat, Tucker, Tubbs, Biggs, Thomas, were good boxers (not great) who ruined themselves.
I wouldn't say either era is/was the worst. Atleast we don't have champions taking 3 year breaks from boxing like in the era of Willard/Dempsey...
Well, you could say that Vitali did.
Michael Dokes
holy was technically a heavy in the late 80s wasnt he? even though he and tyson never met. i dont think buster was a bum....he beat some other decent fighters besides mike. and he looked like a spectacular fighter vs. mike.
I said Wlad's because let's face it...if you can take 4 years off and then come back and literally destroy the #2 ranked contender in that division and when 5 years earlier he got stopped on cuts by an out of shape lewis then well....
I think Wlad and Vitali aren't that bad, but the rest of that division is pretty bad. The 80s weren't good either, but I think Tyson's edged it out by a hair.
i think tony tucker, buster douglas, tonu tubbs, ruddock, prime holyfield, old holmes, michael spinks, and berbick were def. a bit better than todays heavyweights. tyson>klitschko's
Idk, about that one... And tyson never beat holyfield... Nice name to have on your resume but you didn't beat him... And Buster Douglass is a bum who was at the right place at the right time.
