I know they're in different weight class, but who do you think fought the tougher competition in there first 34 fights? Like did one of these fighters look like they were trying to take an easier route while the other one looked like he took on tougher competition?
You have no shame. How do you write off Miranda and bring up these bums. Just because Sheika got a single meaningful win in his life, a close MD against Johnson, this does not make him a legitimate opponent. Taylor alone is worth twice the resume you have posted above, not to mention Taylor twice. Cal fans cant get past the numbers, its about quality. You can fight all the mid-level fighters you want but one elite fighter on Pavs resume trumps the rest on Calz.
Thats still one more than Miranda
Robin Reid wasn't a bum.
He was an Olympic medalist who went to a foreign country and won the WBC belt. He then took Calzaghe to a close decision, and did enough to beat Sven Ottke for 2 of the belts in Germany, but was robbed by the officials.
Have you seen him fight?
It seems strange to criticise Shanus for saying that Miranda was weight drained, and then say that Robin Reid (who was better than Miranda IMO) was a bum.
Pavlik fought a weight drained Edison Miranda and an overrated Jermain Taylor.
Calzaghe fought a GAME Chris Eubank, he was on the slide but he was still a world level fighter, a prime Robin Reid who is extremely underrated, Omar Sheika who had just came off a win against Glen Johnson and a former champion in Richie Woodhall.
I don't think it's even debateable, considering that Pavlik has only fought one world class opponent in Jermain Taylor, and a one dimensional fighter in Edison Miranda.

Eubank was at the end of his rope hence the 2 losses after the fight with Joe then a quick retierment.
Eubank moved up 2 divisons and lost a debateable decision. Then in the rematch he lost on cuts. IIRC he was winning at the time.
i look at it like this. at 26 yrs old joe had 25 fights, and pavlik has 35 fights including his with bhop. it's close as far as resume, but age for age pavlik is doing quite well for a 26 yr old kid who is the recognized mw champion of the world, and farther along than joe was at that time. pavlik is only 10 fights behind joe, and is 10 yrs younger. that is impressive for his age.

So Now Taylor is overrated? Was He Overrated Before the fight? Eubank was at the end of his rope hence the 2 losses after the fight with Joe then a quick retierment. Calz has made a name off of nobodys' with the exception of B-hop, Now That Pavlik wants to fight Calz now pavlik's resume is shit? Calz got knocked down by the guy JT went to fights standing with and won, even at 43 hop made calz look like a fool.
As Far was world class,Hopkins was the only opponent that Joe faced and Lacy was a one dimensional fighter so that can't be in this statement.
Bro please
Pavlik KO 11
I think I actually agree, but I don't think pavliks resume is as bad as some of you are making out to be. Your forgetting zertuche, zuniga, mckart. So that totals, Taylor, Taylor, Miranda, Zertuche, Zuniga, and Mckart. Those are all 6 good wins against quality opponents at that time.
