ESPN CLASSICS just went off the air and they showed the gatti-tracy patterson fight and john scully was awesome, muy LOL. iceman you give the deep insights, i watch clasic sometimes but not 2 much but tonight i really watched and paid attention to your call. good things were said, like letting us into the mind. and gatti could box! dont know why he became so much of a slugger afterwards because he boxed really (really!) good in that fight. patterson did too actually but gatti was just so sharp!!!! surprised at that??? its was him winning his first world title :boxing:
and have you got any offers about being a commentary guy yet since after you been on espn (classic??)
I posted here a while back that I was scheduled to do live commentary in Houston for a pro show there....and I just found out ta few days ago that the show is canceled. I have also been approached by some pretty big outlets in the business but so far nothing is secure for me.
Lidell got knocked out last week. what about george gervin? you before him? and have you got any offers about being a commentary guy yet since after you been on espn (classic??)
they need iceman on Showtime! their commentary is lacking badly.
Man, give me a chance on ANY network I dont care. To tell u the truth I was kind of surprised I didnt get a call to fill in on at least one show when Teddy was in China for the Olympics.
Bring the Iceman back! put him on showtime they need a 3rd man! im tired of them having those goofy nerds doing most of the play by play no offense to al b and Albert but they do not have the same feel with out a trianer/fighter on.
Domain, I agree...and who is that giant guy in the photo under your name???
http://www.petitiononline.com/tim3210/petition.html << The petition you speak of...I didnt make this, someone on AOL made it and sent it to me...not sure how powerful it could be but its fun and who knows, right????
I met McCrory out by the pool at Caesar's in 2005...I was excited to meet him, told him a story how back in 1986 at the New England Golden Gloves tournament I found myself EXHAUSTED going into the third round of my semi final fight...and I decided to use shoeshine flurries just like he used to beat Colin Jones in the 12th and final round of their rematch to win the WBC title... and I won going away...he seemed to like that story...then I showed him my ICEMAN name plate necklace, told him I was the ICEMAN (TOO :)
so wheres the patition to get icejohn on the air? i googled it but didnt find. remember it??????? now i see why. give insight, start a campaign! you kept talking about gattis jab and pattersons too. and you were right. gatti had a strong jab in that fight!!!!!
did mccrory jump??? dout it
Im pretty sure it wasn't like that, but a little friendly banter. Honestly, Im not even sure I am remembering the story the right way. Its just one of those things I vaguely remember Ice posting years ago.
No sir. I was the ICEMAN before 48 hours and Chuck Lydell :)
And Milton McCrory? Just kidding. I remember you telling a story once about how you ran into Milton and told him you were the real Iceman, or something to that effect.:fing02:
dude I never knew that was scully I always watch ESPN classic but I never noticed the names they rarely showed the announcers.
But I was like what happen to that guy did he die cause he just dissappeared and he was really good he gave a more everyman approach but with the knowledge of an oldschool guy.
Did I die????? LOLOLOL So glad u were concerned and bothered to check up on me :)
Hey I always say that Gatti showed a very very sharp jab in that fight and also he used some very subtle ring smarts, he is a much more intelligent guy in th ering than he generally gets credit for. Sadly he will be remembered for fights where he was just so ougunned by stellar opposition. At 130 though he was a very solid boxer/puncher. and, trust me, Tracy was no slouch either!!
He fell in love with his own power and chin. And we can't thank him enough for it!!!
You know that is very true. Gatti had very underrated boxing skills when he used them. He tried to revert back to them later in his career, but it was too little too late.
We are not complaining though. 4 fight of the year honors and even more runner up fights for it. Probably the most entertaining fighter to enter the ring in the last 20 years. Of course he belongs on the HOF.
yea wtf happened to gatti??he had a beautiful jab in that fight great movement wow
