lol at all these people claiming Casamayor is a washed up fighter when they havent even seen how well he'll perform in his next bout. Marquez took a risk in facing Casamayor who had just come off a big win against Katsidis while Pac cherry picked the weakest champ in Diaz, who flat out sucks.
Katsidis has glass chin and is winning the fight.. not until a lucky punch that smashed him..
IMHO before ANY OF THE 130 CHAMPS CAME UP ...
1. campbell (beat diaz impresively to get his 3 belts)
2. casamayor (has linear title, and already beat nate on earlier in their careers, should be number 1 but has shady last 2 or 3 performance)
3. juan diaz (has claim to no.1 before he got beat by campbell)
4. david diaz (WBC Champ and koed sta cruz tormentor of casa, is in the mix of things)
anyway you want to see the rankings 1,2,3 could almost all be interchangeable with multiple factors JD cant be ranked higher than nate, casa could be ranked 1 but could also be ranked behind nate and jd...
when pac beat david..
1. campbell
2. casamayor
3. juan diaz
4. pacquiao (WBC Champ takes david's spot and is capable of challenging any of the top 3)
when JMM beat CASA..
1. campbell
2. Juan Manuel (beat casa and has linear title)
3. juan diaz
4. pacquiao
same scenario here anyway you want to see the rankings 1,2,3 could almost all be interchangeable and you could also contend that 4 already beat 1 or 2 depending on where you place JMM...
now we need a few more fights to get the undisputed title...
the correct ranking is
1 Campbell - deserves to be #1 he beat Juan Diaz
2 Juan Diaz - Onced ruled 135 made a come back and schooled Katsidis.
3 Pacman / JMM tie - Pac beat a paper champ, JMM beat a washed up fighter.

4. Nate Campbell
Pacquiao and marquez are the two true frontrunners...
i put diaz over campbell because i think overall campbell hasnt really beat anyone...as far as im concerned the win over diaz was a fluke.
How can you rank Cambell fourth when he's holding 3 belts? if you were to rank them based on accomplishments at lightweight, Campbell and Diaz deserve to be at the top of the list. Diaz won 3 belts and recently defeated Katsidis and Campbell defeated Diaz.
Another feel-good thread for JMM fans still high on last night's fight. Ranking him No. 1 / 2 for winning against a washed-up fighter whom he KOed at the time it was pretty much even in the scorecards, ranking him higher than a fighter who blew past a lightweight champ from opening bell. you gotta hand it out to these kids :D
exactly.. :D
Manny will KTFO Casamayor in round 1. :Thinkingo
1. Pacquiao
2. Marquez
3. Juan Diaz
4. Nate Campbell

campbell has 5 losses to journey men aswell. Yes diaz lost to him but that doesn't always mean everything. IT has nothing to do with mexican, my fav fighter is cotto. Is he mexican?
1 Campbell
2 JMM
3 Baby Bull
4 Pacman but cause he is technically no longer a lightweight.
Maybe so. But techniclly he has never lost at that weight, nor one higher. :fing02:
I think Based on what they have done in the division might be a better way to rank them....IMO
I look at it this way.... Pac has a win and a draw over Marquez. Hec also holds a win over a titlist at 135. Marquez has to very close fights with Pac, but has beaten the lineal champ at 135. at lightweight Marquez is the man. But p4p he still has that loss to Pacquiao. Like I said, its close, and he is closing the gap. But he still hasn't beaten the man in my opinion, nor the judges. Based on that, I can't in good conscience put him ahead of Manny. I do think he is nipping at Manny's heels though.
That said, I still have Pac above Marquez based on their head to head match ups. Both were close, but Pac has the advantage. Marquez is closwing fast though.

After JMM knocked out a #1 ranked Joel Casamayor, how would you rank the Light weight division?
I got ....
1. Campbell
2. Marquez
3. Pac
4. Juan Diaz
Solid. I agree.
