I mean he sparred with Andy Lee and wasn't able to knock him out, but Andy Lee was knocked out by Brian Vera. This means Brian Vera is stronger then Wlad.

I think this is the old "people remember the second half of the fight more than the first" effect. Dawson put away heaps of the early rounds. Glen definatley came back well and took the majority of the rounds in the second half of the fight but by that time I think Dawson had built up a sufficient lead and deserved the decision.
That's the way I saw it too. Johnson won his rounds more impressively, but Dawson still won 7 of the 12 rounds.
Wlad knocked down Mercer before Holyfield? McCline quit, and Wlad does not get leverage on his left hook.
My bad...Wlad was the first man to knockdown Mercer with a HEAD SHOT
Holyfield knocked down Mercer with a Body Shot
I agree with you that the big right hand is still his money punch...but his left hook is also very deadly
I scored it 115-113 for Johnson
Tons of people on Boxingscene had Johnson winning the fight.

Adamek vs Cunningham is coming up later this year.
We will have to bet points on that fight :boxing:
That's going to be an excellent fight that stays under the radar. I sure hope it is televised.
The same Chad Dawson that got a UD over Johnson

When he starts to ko guys with the hook, it wil be his better punch. Right now, the right hand is his punch.
Wlad has KO'd and knocked down lots of fighters with his left hook
Wlad was the first man to knockdown Ray Mercer...he did it with a left hook
he knocked out McCline with a left hook
he rocked Peter bigtime with a left hook
destroyed Austin with left hooks...just look at my sig
knocked down Barrett 5 times and finished him with a left hook
The list goes on and on......
Wlad hasn't been able to use or land the left hook as much in his last 2 fights because he was fighting very defensive awkward southpaws (Ibragimov and Thompson).
Wlad finally gets to face an orthodox fighter next fight in Povetkin....Wlad feasts on orthodox fighters...he will batter Povetkin with right hands and left hooks...It's gonna be a good fight while it lasts and Wlad will win by brutal KO.
I like divisions where they are competitive. Even if it doesn't have the best of talent and they are evenly matched, it makes for a good division.
Talent wise it might not be better then Heavy, but I think it's a better division just because there are more interesting match ups and outcomes.
How did you score Adamek/Briggs II??
That was great fight and a pretty damn close one.
Fuck that is going back a while. I was obviously going for Paul but I remember thinking Adamek did enough to win it. I felt Paul could have won the fight if he was more prepared to pull the trigger but I guess Tomasz has to take some credit for that also.
I don't mind Adamek, he is a good fighter. I just think a division in which he is either the number 1 or 2 guy appears to be struggling a litte, as cruiser often seems to be. Those two fights ruined Paul Briggs though. You could just tell that on an emotional level he was devestated that he wasn't able to win one of those fights. I saw his comeback after the second fight and it was one of the worst fights I have ever sat through. He hasn't fought since.
Adamek is an ok fighter but definatley nothing special. As WLAD OWNS said Chad Dawson made him look pretty ordinary for the majority of their fight and I remember watching both his fights against Paul Briggs and not being at all impressed by him. If he is one of the top two guys in that division I think it is reasonable to conclude it is pretty weak.

Steve Cunningham is the best fighter in that division. Tomasz Adamek is a good fighter too and Oneil Bell was no slouch just a quitter

Cruiserweight is arguably the weakest...The best guy in the division is Tomasz Adamek and he got schooled by Chad Dawson at light heavyweight...That's the same Dawson that got beat up by 40 year old Glen Johnson.
Heavyweight >>> Cruiserweight

No he has great power but just too parsimonious with it.
140 and Crusier are good divisions....I'd say crusier is a better division then heavyweight. Honestly. Crusier has some real good potential.
Light Middleweight sucks ass though. Straw weight is a bit worse then heavy (not because they weigh 105 pounds because the competition isn't all that).

I mean it's not like superstar greats, but it has a bunch of guys on the same level and it makes for an interesting division. Plus I like Tim Bradley. He seems like a good fighter.

WHat am I missing at 140? It seems pretty shallow to me right there at the moment.
