Not a measure of ablility, simple question. Who did you or do you enjoy watching the most?
I presume alot of you will say Corrales, Gatti or a mexican like Chavez. For me personally it's Nigel Benn.
I've heard the Zale-Graziano trilogy is the best ever... They might be good candidates, especially because defense was not nearly as used back then as it is today.
I THINK BOBBY CHACON, RED LOPEZ, WILFREDO GOMEZ, GATTI, TYSON, PINTOR, ,,,,,, THE LIST CAN GO ON FOREVER. IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHATS YOUR LIKING IN A FIGHT!!!:boxing: THEY ARE ALL EXCITING IF YOUR FIGHTER WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!:boxing:

The first 2 names that immediately came to mind were Duran and Tyson. Tyson took the sport to a whole new level during his prime. People would dish out thousands just to see how fast he can KO his opponent. He had the fans mezmerized. I can remember being around 7-8yrs old, and being amongst my family while everyone gathered in front of the tv to watch Tyson fight.
I was on vacation in Miami during his fight with Lennox. The scene was hectic as everyone was looking for a place to catch the fight. I found this one secluded Irish bar/restaurant, and got myself a table right in front of the bigscreen. I had people offering to by me food and drinks just so they can join me at the table.
I dont care what anyone says, nobody made the fans more hype, than a prime Mike Tyson.
good post.....
I'm not sure if he's been mentioned but Carmen Basilio was a very exciting fighter, his fights with Robinson, Fullmer, Saxton, DeMarco etc. were all great, exciting fights.
Edit: I just saw warp mention him, good shoutout.
Agreed. Very exciting fighter. Throw in Matthew Saad Muhammed too.

I love watching old footage of Joe Louis. There was always a sense a fight could end at anytime, even when you knew the outcome. From recent times.....Gatti, Pazienza, Cotto, Pacquiao, Hagler, Hearns, Tyson, Corrales. There are so many!
Aaron Pryor was very exciting. For a past fighter (like in the 1950s) I've got to say Carmen Basillo. His fights with Robinson were great. That and his first fight against Gene Fullmer is one of my favorites.
