Can someone provide me a link where Goosen stated he is willing to give MARGARITO himself 4 Million dollars for the Williams fight? Where did he say that Margarito would MAKE 4 million?
No, Rafael contacted HBO directly to get that 450k figure. He did not ask Arum which was wise of him because you never know with promoters.
HBO has not said shit. The head of HBO sport threw a fucking fit because T. Hauser knew all about the inner working of HBO. So anyone that leaks anything at HBO now will be shown the door and told don't let it hit you in the ass on the way out.
The numbers will not be known until the NSAC gets the numbers because they need them for the fighters purses which they keep track of. When they are filed at the NSAC someone will publish them.
That came out of Arum's mouth. Its not legit but if you believe in Arum...then go ahead.

Nobody knows how Cotto vs Margarito did...NOBODY.
wrong kid!!!
COMMONGMAN KNOWS!!! RIGHT COMMON... I KNOW UR HIDING AROUND HERE!!!
come out you little punk!!!!!!!!!!! jahahaha j/k
Margarito made more for the first Williams fight than he did for the Cotto fight.
Actually Margarito made well over $3million with the PPV upside factored in which did over 450K buys.
and like i say before.. hes not gonna make more than 2 mil for his upcoming fight.. no matter who he fights.. unless he takes goosen offer... i wonder WHERE IS COMMONMANG ???? REMEMBER ME BENNY BLANCO FROM THE BRONX!! :lol1: los fanatiquitos...
Ok, say they are paying P.Williams half of what they are paying Marg. That's $6mil in total purses. They will have to sell out the arena, and sell a decent number of ppv's just in order to break even. Now im not knocking this fight. Im actually interested in seeing it, but from an economic standpoint, i just dont see how they can afford to offer Marg such a large purse, while still profiting off of this fight. Casual fans make up about 60-70% of all ppv purchases. Do u honestly think they are going to dish out for this fight? This is a fight that mainly appeals to diehard fans, and that's it.
If the fight doesn't make that much the fighters don't get paid that amount. I am assuming here but isn't part of the reason Chris Byrd didn't get his min of 2 mil per fight with Don King? Not to fuck up the thread but doesn't it now make sense that PBF ignored that 8 mil offer from Arum to fight Margarito. To me this situation seems the exact same.
And what is terrible about ESPN is that they are making insane money every week with their sponsorship deals with KFC and Just For Men, where we sit through this incredibly offensive commercial 6-7 times a broadcast:
Wow, because you're old you're ruining your childrens' lives and can't get a date. Yeah, whatever.
So the ESPN people control all of the ring and banner advertising, give you $20,000 to make a main and co-main event and the lighting along costs $15,000. Great.
Yea ESPN for sure could spend more. Sometimes you do have to take a loss to get a fighter recognition but most fighters would leave the original promoter that took the lean ESPN money in favor of big money from a top promoter. It was probably very smart to put Gamboa on ESPN though that was probably a loss that will pay off. ESPN2 is in so many homes that they can really dictate shitty terms, but really they should be trying to offer good fights which would lead to even more money. They are really only seeing the right now and driving costs down means more profit.
Is that really for Margarito to worry about, is the point.
I totally agree with u. I feel he should've jumped all over the offer. He makes that much fighting nobody else in the division right now.
I think the TV money hierarchy in monetery terms goes something like this.
HBO WCB>SHOWTIME CB>HBO BAD>Versus>Shobox>>>>>>>>>>>ESPN (ESPN might even offer less then Fox sports net offers for local shows). PPV is of course the top dog because it can bring in tons of extra cash. For example HBO may offer 3 million but if it goes to PPV and sells 200k at $50 which would be 10 million net, you would easily get 5 million and maybe 7+. Every 20k buys is a million in extra revenue (at $50 a pop), that adds up real quick.

Also, for all we know Paul Williams might be taking the small part of the purse. Cory Spinks made a ridiculous amount of money for the Judah rematch, largely because Judah walked with $100,000.

Same here. Im definitely interested in seeing it, i just dont think that it would be a ppv worthy fight. Like i've said, neither fighter has enough appeal with casual fans in order to make this a succesfull ppv event.

You hit the nail on the head....I wouldnt even buy that ppv...Id go to a friends house.....
