Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones November
The night grows closer, where the current P4P no.1 faces the forgotten legend. I have been waiting for this fight since calzaghe talked about it after the hopkins fight and in turn have been pissing alot of people off on these websites out of sheer boredom. However on the odd occasion when bryceyboi has not been drinking to much coca cola he is down for serious debate, and as the fight is approaching in the next few months i would like to hear some reasonable views and forecasts from all boxing fans
When people first heard the next opponent on the welsh dragons list was roy jones, there was massive upset, caliming pavlick deserved it and was the better fighter, this is not the case. Anyone who has ever watched roy jones live or in boxing videos knows that Jones at 2 years older is no excuse to be ruled out alltogther.
Roy jones always has a game plan. Calzaghe however is more adaptable. I think calzaghe will go in there open minded withe the heart of a lion, where as jones is going to have set out a plan A, B and C.
Ive said all along i think jones is going to pull off a massive upset to the uk fans and he will pull it off aslong as he goes in there wanting to win. The problem being a jones fan is that after the tarver and glen johnson fight, i personally think jones did not loose any power, did not loose his speed and did not loose his ability to box. However i think he did change in the way that he didnt want to win as much, he has alot of money, hes smart and hes now not the undefeated legend he was.
Its as simple as jones wanting to prove that he should still be considered an ATG, P4P champ.
I hope this fight doesnt compare to " calzaghe vs hopkins " or " jones vs tito "
because IMO both fights were about exciting as 2 goldfish playing hide and seek. It needs the full support of the jones and calzaghe fans, it needs both fighters heading into that ring thinking about one thing only, and thats winning.
Although i see jones winning this fight, i would never completely rule calzaghe out. In ANY fight there is really 50/50 chance.
Calzaghe has got an incredable workrate, the best out of all the boxers i can think of today, He just keeps on going and doesnt seem to get tired. He loves his fans and is clearly going to put on the best performance he can and has to date.
1rst Round
I see this being similar to " calzaghe vs hopkins " round 1, slow and uneasy for both fighters. Jones throwing some shock hooks and mabey putting calzaghe down but certainly not hurting him
2nd Round
Both Fighters getting stuck in and tryign to work out each others gameplans. Both fights connecting
3rd Round
This is where i think jones will pick up and start outsmarting calzaghe with suprising hooks, uppercuts, jabs from all directions, then straight back into his turtle defence
4rd Round
The most important round for jones IMO, from seeing pretty much everyone of jones fights and seeing many of calzaghes. I think this is the round where jones must go all out and try knock calzaghe out. From what ive seen calzaghe starts getting into the fight about round 4/5... If jones lets it slip past round 4 hes going to be in trouble. He must keep moving on his feet and trying to outsmart clazaghe because if he punches him self out and is on the ropes in his new turtle style defence, Calzaghe will unleash a flurry of punches on him tiring him out as we all know jones does not have the stamina of calzaghe.
Whatever happens its going to be a close one and im interested to see what everyone else thinks round by round etc , regardless of boxing records and names.
discuss...
Who gives a fuck about this fight. Calzaghe is on the slide, has been now for about 4 years I'd say. Regardless, he's still a great fighter but Roy Jones is done (mentally even more than physically). This fight is a farce and Joe should be ashamed of himself.
The most likely outcome is Calzaghe moving away from round 3 or 4 to get a wide decision. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a TKO late on. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was a total mismatch and Calzaghe gets a TKO early in the fight. We haven't seen Jones in with a top fighter for a long time and its hard to know if he can still compete, its possible he can't. I also wouldn't be surprised if in fact it turned out to be close, Calzaghe is getting old himself, we don't know how his move to LHW has affected him in the longer term and it wouldn't be the first time if he turns in a poor performance. Since its unpredictable, I'm looking forward to the fight!
(You want my neck on the line? OK...Calzaghe dominates from the opening bell and boxes to a wide decision winning nearly every round.)
why do you insist on totally contradicting yourself within your posts ?
Joe Calzaghe will beat Roy Jones and prove once and for all that he's a notch above the other 3 (Jones, Toney, Hopkins) great fighters in his weight range, of that generation.
1. Joe Calzaghe
2. Roy Jones
3. Bernard Hopkins
4. James Toney
I actually believe you post this stuff purely for inflammatory purposes.
Roy Jones
James Toney
Bernard Hopkins
Joe Calzaghe
Anyone who thinks Calzaghe should get credit for beting RJJ should quit following boxing. Calzaghe should be 95/5 favourite
The majority here are picking Jones to win.

A notch? Just one notch? They are not even close to the skill of Calzaghe. I wouldn't even put them on the same list as the Welsh Dragon. Not even in their primes could they of touched Calzaghe. This is gong to be the most one sided fights you have ever seen. I even predict this fight will be more one sided than the Hopkins-Calzaghe bout. That fight was a complete shut out, except for that push Hopkins used to put down Joe. This is the real list!
1. Joe Calzaghe
2. Joe Calzaghe
3. Ricky Hatton
4. Ricky Hatton
Hatton is much younger and not in the same weight range...
When JC has a win over Hopkins (I had it 8-4 for Joe, a 3 point win) and Jones it proves he's in the same elite class to the knuckleheads that are ignorant about his talents because he's from Europe.
You make it seem like he is beating a prime Jones. There is little significance to beating a shot Jones at this stage. Its looks good on his record, however it doesn't prove anything. What ranked opponent has Jones even beaten after his losses to Tarver and Johnson? Thats what we have to look at.
Roy Jones
James Toney
Bernard Hopkins
Joe Calzaghe. :D
Many if not most people here seem to be predicting a Jones victory so Calzaghe should get credit for the win. Neither fighter is in their prime right now.

im a fan of both but i think jones will train like a mother for this one and make calz look like a fool for the first few rounds but I see calz coming back late and taking the UD.
there will be times in this fight where roy will look like hes in his prime imo, ala jones tarver III round 5.
Calzaghe gets blitzed by Jones speed and simply cant deal with it
Fights close real close and Jones pulls it out for the last few rounds
shocking the world while some poor sheep get kicked to fuck on the way home
from the drunk welsh crowd....
a Knockout is not on the card for this fight at all.
I don't see Jones flooring 'Zaghe in the first round though lmao, after the Hopkins fight I see 'Zaghe being alot more cautious with his movement, this might make his style change alot more which could be dangerous for him.
I hope 'Zaghe wins and will be supporting him all the way, but whatever the outcome as long as its a good boxing fight thats all that matters
I think calzaghe is going to dominate the first 4 rounds and possible tko jones out like he did to manfreddo. Jones isnt even in the same class as calzaghe.
calzaghe wasnt known as the terminator for nothing !
you are fucking comeday mate keep dreaming

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Jones doesn't have the best chin, agreed. But Calzaghe's slaps couldn't knock out a fly now.
