I don't believe in RED K and Flawless is my buddy so I wouldn't hit him with it but if you feel like giving someone RED K for a thread please click the link above and show him some Tito style loving. Puerto Ricans and they're ALTS do your thing......
Trinidad was a great puncher, but he was exposed three times by more technical boxers (Oscar, Winky, Hopkins) which casts somewhat of a shadow on his overall ability. He was additionally strangely prone to early knockdowns, though he won all of the fights in which they occurred.
true. but it's just epoints i wouldn't bet cash on ruiz especially considering the venue and judges.
i'm betting it all on manny. pray for me. :D
Manny, in my opinion, is a heavy underdog. If you put cash on that fight, don't bet anything you can't afford to lose, buddy.
Three to one, three million to one, means the same if your man lost, eh? ;)
I'd have tried to talk you out of it, I just wouldn't be able to put money down on Ruiz myself unless the odds really were about a million to one.

i got 3-1. not bad considering it was close.

Wish you'd asked me before you bet on Ruiz. At least it wasn't cash, could've been worse.

Who hates on Tito???
mexicans , hopkins fans and boxing know-nothings who's only seen his fight with winky and roy.
which one are you?
btw i have to bump our threads. we're 1/3 of the way there.
Fat boy, people are agreeing with me. I don't see why you are hating on me.
because i'm a tito nuthugger.
like i said just because a few people agree with you doesn't mean it's true.
there's a lot of tito haters.

Tito was a very good fighter, big puncher but had avg boxing skills. I thought, as do most boxing people, DLH beat him outboxing him for 8 rounds of that 12 round fight.
I liked Tito, he was an exciting fighter to watch.
The Hawaiian Punch ruined Ruiz for anything that remotely resembles actual boxing. I haven't seen him in a fight I enjoyed watching since his nap 19 seconds into the first round of that fight.
And the other guy you mentioned is a pygmy. If he didn't stay on his bicycle, he'd get obliterated, and hell....maybe even accidentally stepped on and squished.
hawaiian punch? more like samoan sumo.
on pygmy , he doesn't have to fight like that though..... he can still throw combos while boxing. that 1 jab and run shit doesn't do much for me as a fan.
i'm not saying slug it out...... he's not built for that but he can go in throw some combos and go back out. he can do some better countering with his skills and talent.
after seeing john ruiz and ivan caldeRUN today...... they sure don't make puerto ricans like they use to....... :D

I didn't say his boxing skills were bad, just nothing particularly special. As far as legacy goes, certainly he'll be remembered for years and years, no doubt about it. But he still isn't an all time great, unless you're talking strictly about pound for pound punching power, and in that case he certainly would be considered an all time great. Over all, though, while an excellent fighter, I feel he just falls short of being in serious consideration as an all time great. But don't go thinking I'm saying that because I don't like him....I still watch some of his old fights because he was exciting as hell.
Also, that fight with Oscar....you really ought not to use that as an example of his "greatness", honestly.
when i originally posted the thread i left oscar's name out.
but changed it and added oscar's name. a w is a w. so what the hell.
i think tito is great and borderline all time great.

Sorry, Pal, I agree with your buddy Flawless. Tito was always great to watch because he carries thunder in his gloves, but to consider him an ATG is very bias. He relied almost exclusively on his power to win his fights because his boxing skill is, at best, mediocre. And nothing wrong with that at all, many of the most exciting fighters ever to have stepped into a ring were the very same (Marciano, for one, Foreman, and the list goes on and on), but there's nothing other than his power that makes him stand out from the crowd. Marciano was incredibly conditioned and had the willpower of a demigod, Foreman...well, he was just Big George, nothing else need be said. The most distinctive quality of Tito was just his heavy hands, that's it. Again, great to watch, but doesn't belong on anyone's ATG list, unless they're from Puerto Rico.
tito's boxing skills are not as bad as people say. obviously he was no ray robinson though.
but ATG are judged by legacy and resume NOT skills.
he has a very solid resume and his legacy was great. how many won't remember tito?
