Clottey was schooling Margarito for 5 rounds straight and would have beaten him if he didn't break his hand and he also lost to Williams
Everyone beats up on Marg early. the problem is substaining it. Cotto was beating him through six rounds, if it wasnt for body shots and a broken nose he may have won. IMO! Thats just boxing. I do wonder though in the course of boxing history how many guys lost a fight because they broke a hand? I am sure the history of boxing would be altered if this didnt happen in boxing.
Fact or not I still think hes one of the better Welterweights of the last 10 years...I'm sorry but you cant make me change my opinion...No matter what you say!
not trying to. i respect your opinion! everyone deserves that respect!
Clottey was schooling Margarito for 5 rounds straight and would have beaten if he didn't break his hand and he also lost to Williams, so he will definitely not get my vote and certainly not over De La Hoya (Didnt want to fight him, Mosley (didnt want to fight him) a prime Trinidad (not within the 10 years) or even Mayweather (never faught anyone in WW, 130 was great, 147 not that impressive). Hes simply not great yet. He only beat two top names which were Cintron( who was decent but not elite) and Cotto. What about Clottey? You are over hyping him IMO. Cotto didn't have the resume or star quality that Oscar did. (cant knock him, he did fight everyone that was put in front of him. Quintana undefeated, Malignaggi, undefeated, Torres, udefeated, and Mosley. You are right and I do agree that Cotto does not have either the star power or resume of DLH. However he is still a good victory at this point.) He was only a one time junior welterweight and welterweight champion.
Oh and as for your question, of course Mosely is elite and he always has been. I am glad someone else thinks he is good besides me!Some people dont see it that way. I respect him! Trinidad was the first to beat Oscar though.
I am just answering the thread. I am not on anyones nutz.... Its just hard to go against what he accomplished over the last 10 years. Only one L at WW. PW could give any of those guys on your list a run IMO. His size and the speed he has for a big man is crazy! Tito would certainly get my vote if it was the last 15. Then it would probably be DLH. However the post is regarding the last 10, not 15, not 12, not 11. 10 years!
Bernard Hopkins.
It depends, are all accomplishments before 1998 not counted? In that case it could be one of the newer ones, maybe Margarito, although he really isn't a better fighter than Trinidad, De La Hoya, Whitaker... But he has been consistently fighting at welterweight for the past 10 years.
No. That would be a fact buddy. He had two fights between 1999 and 2008 (9 Years ago), before that his last fight was a NC due to a sniffnig problem in 07 (11 Years ago). 0-2, hard to dispute that fact!

Tito beat Oscar. Like you said, his resume speaks for itself. Mosley beat him twice, does that make him one of the elites? Oscar was def great for boxing. He will go down as one of the best! And also for ducking Marg.
Over the last 10 yrs. Marg has been ranked for over 7 years. He has been ducked by most in the WW division. He lost to PW who is the biggest WW and probably will be one of the great fighters in the weight class if he doesnt go up in weight. PW broke his decade running unbeaten streak in the WW division. He beat Clottey who could also be argued as having potential of being the next great in this division.
Not to mention giving Cotto his first L.
One fight doesnt match that!!!!!

He had two loses in the last ten years. He also only fought twice. One was to Carlos Bojorquez.... Hes only a hose hold name in his own house! Dont think he will get my vote

Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker.

Its 2008 now and in 1999 (which is only 9 years ago), Trinidad beat Oscar, which surpasses everything that anyone has done on that list IMO. De La Hoya is one of the greatest fighters of this generation. His accomplishments speaks for itself.

I agree about Ray! However the post is about 10 years. That cuts off all of Tito's accomplishments
The question is the past 10 years.

Well actually Ray Robinson is the greatest welterweight of all time( as well as greatest fighter of all time). Also, De La Hoya was a 4 division world champion at the time he lost to Trinidad and he had the WBC welterweight title. He beat Whitaker( even though it was very controversial) who had only lost a controversial decision to Rameriez at the time so that was a great win over a great fighter that was still elite.

The question is the past 10 years. Before he left the division he had his IBF welterweight belt, which he defended about 18 times. Those accomplishments were still there and his win over an unbeaten De La Hoya surpasses anyone on that list at welterweight alone.
Ike Quartey also Sweet Pea had arguably never lost when he faced Oscar (he could have still argued that afterward even if i disagree)
Thats debatatable!
Did Oscar ever beat a legit contender that wasnt past his prime? I know he has some names on his resume however he is lacking the big win! Why does Tito winning that fight make his accomplishments so much greater over the ten year span? Because he was the first?
DLH is a name, he got a broke eye socket from 2lbs. No doubt Tito is the best WW of all time if you look what he accomplished. However Your arg is still invalid. Beating DLH is not better than Margs WW triump in the last 10 years. Hell DLH wont even fight him!
