fernando vargas never became a Hall of fame fighter, but hes beaten very good to descent opposition, if he retired today he would have beaten opponents like Raul Marquez, Ike Quartey, Yori Boy Campas and Winky Wright all in their primes, Hes had memorable courageous losses to Oscar and Trinidad.
Joe Calzaghe is undefeated and is now thinking of retiring. Hes beaten Bernard Hopkins, Jeff Lacy, Mikkel Kessler and Sakio Bika.
If they both retired today, , who would be remembered as a greater fighter,Vargas Or Calzaghe,
please vote:
oh yeah, floyd sucked my dick , he said it was tasty
do you think after the punishment he took from margarito, he may wind up like Vargas cause vargas had a nice career till Tito came along, I dont hope that happens to cotto but its possible. Cotto has one of the best mindframes in boxing, he calls out nobody, thinks victory, and doesnt resort to stupidity. Cotto remains in my top 10 regarding of loss to Margarito
Ive put alot of thought into that, its a worry but im pretty sure he will be back even more focused. It was a bad beating but not the worst, i think he was really tired and thats the main reason the punches started catching him so often and wore him down, The nose injury could have been a major factor which his trainer says it was (for breathing right) Cotto of course was all class and refused to mention it, but anyway it wasnt like he got knocked cold so physically he will be fine, he's young enough and in his prime. Mentally he is solid, his attitude to the game is flawless, im sure he will be back and id pick him to win a rematch but only time will really tell!
Vargas took a HELLACIOUS beating from 1 of the hardest punchers ive ever seen, all the way 2 the final round getting dropped 5 times, i luved Fernandos go get em attitude but i dont think he was as mature as Cotto mentally and the loss hurt him more than this has effected Miguel.
Another thing Cotto looks happy out enjoying himself with friends and stuff, his interviews since the fight have been real encouraging and positive aswell, He be fine! :boxing:
110% Agreed! I dont think the loss will effect him either, he'll just comeback better - he seems the type, very mature and mentally strong

Thank you, i dont like ripping Cotto, Cotto is a solid fighter who avoids no one, he looked like a champion even in defeat vs Margarito, Cotto is one the reasons floyd is currently a part time wrestler

this isn't even close what a crap poll. The hate on here is ridiculous. Vargas a trash talking prick who got KTFO in his biggest fights doesn't come close.
Death bed my ass Cotto is probably smashing sum fuckers ribs to bits right now! :boxing:
Cant wait for the comeback fight!

right now im trying to stay neutral on this thread, just reading the post but you have had the most solid post in this thread, i voted vargas by marginal and you calzaghe but id think calzaghe would have a upperhand by most others poll vote, depending on your opinion of cal or vargs opposition like good victories and comparison in the big time opponents, big time victories.
You have a solid neutral vote so you are probably have the best opinion, no doubt
For your good post, you are a winner, todays your big day :fest30::fest30:i will send Floyd to your house to lick your ass and give you headhave a great day, tell a freind and run a train on floyd

Joe's longevity will get him in no doubt but i respect El Feroz more!
HE is the guy who stepped up and challenged the best fighters in the world, his record has quality operaters like Winky, Quartey and to a lesser extent Yori Boy Campas who was 72 -2 at the time and Raul Marquez in the win coloum, and this all within 19 fights!!! Then he has the great battles with Tito Oscar and Sugar.
Its widely thought that Tito ruined him and look what he was still capable of after that! He could have sat on some bogus title like joe did for years but he sought out the best opposition in the game!
But Joe staying undefeated all this time and having a few good names on his record will hav to get the nod as the greater

No i just checked he was actually 200!
Good win none the less i guess
really?
at first i thought you were exaggerating a bit......
you learn something new everyday.
more like 35, And it's not like Calzaghe struggled against him, he did what he was supposed to do. It was also a unexpierenced Calzaghe also.

wrong! he can't be knocked out. he has an iron chin or so i've heard from the fanatical windmill society. not like he uses his hands anyway. he didn't hit hopkins and still "won"
Roy Jones could knock Calzaghe out!
Joe Calzaghe does have a very good chin though. Hopkins didn't hurt him nor did Kessler, you know when Joe is hurt because he gets really really really wild and throws any restraint out the window and fights with his chin in the air (see Mitchell), I always thought that would get him knocked out. Jones could hurt him, Calzaghe will get wild and could get KO'd, definetely could happen.
Hoooo hummmmmmmm, If you really have seen some of his old fights you wouldn't believe, I like how your throwing it out there.
Watch Sheika, Brewer (even though he didn't KO him), Mitchell, Mgertchian, Eubank, Woodhall.......erm pretty much any of his fights pre-Kabrary Salem. Joe is broken now simple as. He technique has been refined completely, he breaks his hands now and he is probably getting knocked out.

if he was hitting lacy with full force thats pretty sad cause he couldn't even hurt him. face it he only had good knockout percentage cause he was fighting bums and getting premature stoppages. i've seen some of his old "knockouts" they are all of the manfredo variety. last time he actually hurt someone was mario veit who has a glass jaw.
