According to this site, Calzaghe should get loades of credit for the Jones win

i'll give him credit for beating two waaay past their prime fighters that are still decent opponents. If he would of beat pavlik that would have been more impressive but calzaghe ducked and ran. Roy jones will beat calzaghe though. I don't get how you figure he ducked and ran. He's taking the Jones fight (And I have said this maybe 100 times on this forum, people, please start listening) FOR THE MONEY. Sure, JOnes will make another head on the wall, but Zaggs is retiring soon, his big moneymaking days are drawing to an end, and this is his retirement package. If he were in his early 30's instead of his late 30's, he'd be taking the Pavlik fight, and then maybe (depending on how that went) a rematch with Kessler, then a mandatory.....you get the picture. But he's not in his early 30's, and he's taking the Jones fight for the cash. Let's see what he does after Jones (providing he does as well as I think he'll do)...he said he wasn't 100% sure about retiring, maybe he'll give Pavlik a shot or Kessler a rematch, which is what I'd like to see....I think Pavlik loses a very lopsided decision, but I think Kessler will have come up with a few solutions to Calzaghe and will make it a much tougher fight.

I think it has more to do with this site realizing Calzaghe is nowhere near as good as he's been made out to be. Roy is shot. Most people realize that. They just think Calzaghe sucks is all.

That about sums it up. Whether its his fault or not, those fights didn't happen when they should've. Beating them now won't do it. Jones IS one of my favourite fighters of all time, but I think it's Calzaghes time now. They are both my favourite fighters, just I hope Calzaghe wins as people will look at his legacy badly if he loses it, where as Jones was shot anyway. this is true..........and when you put it like that i see where your coming from.........if Joe loses this it'll be all bad, and a long road back as far as legacys concerned for Joe

After months of dissing Roy for being overrated, ducking fighters (particularly European ones), saying he's shot, etc. fans of Calzaghe finally realize that they are talking out of both sides of their mouth. So now, they're gonna hype up Roy as much as they can and say stuff like "Joe's old too!" or "Jones hasn't really aged" so they can pretend Calzaghe would've beaten him at any point in their careers and is, in fact, the greater fighter. Like I said before, you guys better hope Jones puts up a damn good fight. Because if he comes in looking like a scared/shot fighter, it will hurt Calzaghe in the end. Not quite the way you wanna go out. Lets see... Is Calzaghe old? Yes, he plainly doesn't have all that he had in his younger days physically, but is he anything like as old in boxing terms as Roy? No he isn't. Roy is shot and if 50% of the Calzaghe that fought Kessler shows up he should beat him easily. Do I hope Roy puts up a good fight? Yes, I want to see a good one. Will that make me claim Calzaghe is 'greater' than Roy? No, Roy won titles in multiple weight divisions and fought a higher standard of opposition than Joe. If Joe beats Roy easily will that make me say he would have beaten a prime Roy? No, this isn't prime Roy, and besides, I already think Calzaghe might have beaten a prime Jones! Do I think retiring after Roy will hurt Joe? Only in the eyes of those who already dislike him. I already rate Calzaghe as a great boxer and beating Pavlik, Tarver or Dawson wouldn't show me anything I don't already know. Would I like him to fight on though? Yes, I would, I like seeing him win fights, but I don't think he will ever do enough to please his detractors.

I would give Joe decent credit for beating Jones. Roy really has not been out boxed, he fought scared in Traver 3 and against Glen Johnson. I do not think Joe is going to KO Roy or even really hurt him badly so if he is able to decison Roy that would be sort of impressive. Not career defining or anything but it would not be a bad victory to have.
