I will laugh until I die. Neither of these guys has any excuse for losing.
Calzaghe is at his best and fighting a guy who is quite frankly shot.
Oscar is fighting a guy half his size who has never even faced a legit threat at 135. Now he's supposed to go 12 pounds up and take on a guy who has seen every style in the game?
If they lose, I think it cripples their legacies. You can't recover from losing mismatches like these.
Im failing to see who Calzaghe ducked in his division?? Ottke ducked him..
Find me an interview of Jones, Toney, Hopkins or anyone talking about wanting to fight Joe in the 90's. Face it he wasnt on the $$ radar so they didnt wanna know him. Dont act like at any point in his carear Calzaghe went out of his way to duck them, they never mentioned his name to begin with.
Err, it seems we have a dimension problem here. Who the hell knew who Calzaghe was back then? You make it sound like it was these guys job to go dig Calzaghe up and bring him a fight instead of Calzaghe showing his face more and getting a chance like everyone else. You just don't jump straight from Europe to HBO ppv to get a tittle shot if you aren't at least known among the best fighters...
Calzaghe is as good as he's ever going to be right now. He's never been better, so don't give me that out of his prime shit. That's like saying Lewis was out of his prime at 34-36 when he was clearly at his best then. Age has little to do with your prime. If Calzaghe thought he was a good fighter 5 years ago, he would have called out at least one good fighter to prove. The fact that he didn't tells me he's never had confidence in himself. That's why he's fighting old men now.
Calzghe's hands are completely fragile thee days, he's not past his prime in terms of speed and he has improved as a tactical fighter massively in recent years but his power is massively diminshed.
dont exaggerate now. maybe 2. 3 tops.
Then you understand.
He is doing the best he can with hands made out of dust.
To win at that kind of level with no pop left is good going. Look how the seemingly ordinary Ricky Hatton will rape Paulie Malignaggi for a future reference point.

ottke would ko calzaghe. remember ottke is undefeated. don't mess with him. remember use calzaghe logic. losses=your shit undefeated=best ever
Your sig says more than many words... Basically Calzaghe's career's explained in that funny cartoon.
well to be fair, not all of it. we must give him some credit for beating lacy and kessler although none of those guys were elite really, still they were young (undefeated too but we all know how that works nowadays). what makes me not very found of calzaghe is the fact he, while young and fresh, never mixed it up with the elite of his division and kept defending a tittle against lesser opponents, like that's gonna prove anything, Dave Batista has like 34234 defenses of the WWE tittle see? there is no excuse for it, none. if the champion didn't want to fight him, why not fight a contender then? and then the champion, like everyone else. i don't care if he beats jones, hopkins and ali, he's still a tipical euro fighter trying a trick.

Rushing in with your head lowered in a straight line and throwing arm flurries to the arms, shoulders, back, and back of the head = true boxing.
not arm flurries you give him too much credit. wrist furries.
thank you thank you i hit calzaghe with a clean shot which is more than i can say he is gonna hit roy with.

The calz fans can't see that. They think Calzaghe was ducked all his early career and had to stay in europe because America didn't want him there...
well look what happened when he came over to america for the first time. he put on one of the shittiest performances in boxing history. feminine slaps, gay sex attempts and he couldn't land a damn punch. looks like america was right not to want him.
bullshit. he never even faced a quality opponent til 2006 and has only faced two good opponent since. if he was good earlier, he would have fought SOMEBODY. he is in his prime right now regardless of what his dumbass fans try to tell me about him being in his prime while hiding in Europe.

i really hope calzaghe does not retire he is 90% of the world's wind energy source. nothing else generates as much wind then calzaghe throwing a billion missed punches in true windmill fashion.

He's well past his prime. He was on the edge at the time of the Lacy fight.
He would have fought Hopkins 6 years ago - when both were nearer their prime - if one of them hadn't reneged on their agreement.
Calzaghes not at his best, he's 35 and because of his hands he does'nt have as much pop as he used to have
