Is he the most inteligent boxer ever (ie. changing his gameplan etc. to change a fight) I personally think that he is up there and even in commentary he makes excellent calls aswell Vote on it Muhammad Ali......

his commentary is horrible, i agree with the others that jones was the best as a fighter/commentator. even big george was better than lewis and he said some outrageous shit. at least he seemed more comfortable and i loved it when he would argue with larry. lennox would never do that.

most intelligent yes he knew Vitali Klitschko was going beat hiss as in a rematch and he understood that claiming he was a Brit would make him plenty of $$$$$$

not the most intelligent. there was hopkins,jones,toney and ali to mention a few are more clever. Jones was a great commentator, one of the best. its a shame HBO fired him lol

calzaghe has to be up there hes always makin changes mid fight as far as pure intelagence it would have to be nicky piper ( think thats his name ) who does the comentating for sky sports hes a member of mensa !!!!!!!!!!

Certainly up there as he had smarts and ring generalship. Made smart moves out of the ring financially and forcing fights using the courts.

He is up there but he is definatley not the smartest boxer of all time.

I agree, Roy was a great commentator! Lewis was a smart guy in the ring, but i doubt he was the smartest ever. His commentary...is pretty bad most the time though.. I think his commentary is excellent. Not the most exciting but he talks a hell of a lot of sense in regards to what the boxers are doing wrong and how they can rectify it. Stewart is also very clever like that but you wouldn't expect any less from him tbh

The smartest ever? Surely not. I'd go with Ali. His switch of gameplan against Foreman was arguably the greatest performance as far as ring-intelligence goes. Of course having the ability to carry it out counts as well.

Lennox was a very smart fighter but far from the smartest ever....as far as his commentary goes....:lol1: he needs to loosen up and come across more natural like Emmanuel Stewart or Roy Jones Jr.(Roy was the BEST fighter/commentator) I agree, Roy was a great commentator! I don't think he's the smartest ever, he was physically gifted which negates the need for ring intelligence atleast somewhat. Old Hopkins is proberbly one of the smartest because his physical gifts had degraded so he had to use his brain to fight instead of relying on his physical tools which he had in his youth. Hopkins is also one of the smartest that i have ever seen, The amount of Lewis Fights that i have seen where he was constantly making small adjustments to his game plan and it was comming off for him. I think that part of his game was under rated. alot
