Am I the only one sick of Lamont and Anthony Peterson? I've been watchin these guys forever, yet they have yet to take on anyone worth watching. Yes, I know they're both very young, but they've had very televised careers and they seem to be getting nowhere. I was wondering, if you had the power to choose their next fights, who would you choose for them?
Lamont Peterson, the older brother, is sitting in a division with young talent. He can work his way up to a Holt or Torres fight, maybe even a Hatton or Malinaggi fight. For now, I think a great fight between two unproven prospects would be Lamont-DHop. Demetrius is no Bernard, but he's still a very good boxer who is starting to be a lil inactive (although he is finally fighting again). I find him and Lamont very similar in many ways, and their careers have been almost identical. This would be the test to see which one deserves the spotlight and which one needs to get over their undeserved deal with major tv networks, or undeserved success over famous relative, and push to advance their career.
Anthony Peterson, baby bro is swimmin in a sea of sharks. Pacquiao is looking for an opponent, but let's be real this fight as much as I'd enjoy it, aint happenin. How bout Julio Diaz? He has no plan to retire soon, and this would be a great comeback/network fight that they could main event. One just coming off of a PPV fight with p4p #1, the other a network regular that has already cohosted main events before. There's also Jose Armando Santa Cruz. This guy schooled Diaz (until he got knocked out), whooped on Edner Cherry, and more or less beat CASAMYOR (not on the scorecards, but did win worst decision of the year)! As lackluster a performance as that was, it still says a lot for a guy that has since gone on to knock out Katsidis and get a ppv fight with a p4p fighter.
Am I the only one that thinks it's time for these guys to at least be fighting B fighters already? Are there any other fighters the Peterson brothers should be fighting instead? Or do you think they should keep on getting paid for these glorified sparring sessions on major boxing networks?
I saw one of them fight live on the Vanes Mantriyosan undercard.. It was a pretty boring fight and after a while the PA PA PA PAPAA PA!! noise he made after every punch got annoying. He left a bad impression on me I must say! lol
Whenever I hit someone I got HIYAH! You gotta hear my combinations son..

I think they are tying to figure themselves out, really. Its important to remember that Anthony is 23, and Lamont is 24. They have a good amount of experienced, and both have impressive records up to this point, but they can take a little more time to step up to the big leagues, if thats what they need to do.
I am not saying they should wait a lot longer, both have a lot of fights. I am just saying if each guy wants to get another 2 or 3 Ws before fighting the big boys, it might ultimately be a good decision.
IMO both of them have the potential to be champions, in Anthony's case I think he should take one more fight the caliber of his last one, and try to get an impressive KO, set himself up for a real challenge. Either way, its not gonna be long. Both of them are at the point, the fights are gonna happen.
Good post, I partially agree. I think they've been on the major networks a little too long for that regardless of age, and their opposition for the MOST part (getting a lil better as of late for anthony more than lamont) is not helping at all. Still, you think Diaz is too big for Anthony still? I'd say that's a good fight. How bout Julio Diaz a lil down the line? Right now he might be a lil too lively and active in the rounds, so David Diaz might be a better 1st test because he's not great against boxers with good legs. Also, I thought DHop was a pretty great choice against Lamont. Who would you match them up with for their next fight?
I can't figure these kids out.

Yeah, Bob Arum matched him against Cotto instead( a soft touch) because he knowns that either Peterson would knock Margarito out and end that momentum that he has going right now.
ESB is east-side-boxing.com. Its this sites's rival.
Hmmm... Dude we're east side... does this mean we're posting on a west coast board?!:ugh:
Margarito has been ducking the Peterson brothers for years, but I'll let that go for now as to not derail my thread. What's ESB?

Yeah i hate when i make a quality thread and it gets put aside. Thats what makes ESB a much more knowledgeable forum. Boxingscene is better overall, but i go to ESB for in dept views on boxing history and todays fights. This forum only likes to talk about Mayweather(even though hes retired) and who they claim Margarito is ducking. I think its because there are younger posters on this site that are more casual fans and ESB has mature adults.

Pretty much. I made a whole thread about Calzaghe, Jones, and Hopkins resumes and it got bascially just tossed aside. Now if I were to mention Margarito is a faggot and is ducking Williams, it'd get like 7 pages worth of replies.
I remember that thread. It got like 3 pages of people commending you for a dead on post, and then in 4 seconds it hit page 5 way behind 30 clone threads all started by 3 diff people with a titles either identical or contradictory to the lovely title you picked there.

Good post, agreed. The guys really annoy me. They need to step up at least to C level opponents this year. They are being managed in such a way that they want their step up fight to coincide with a big money one...fighting bums to plump up their records.

Anthony was going to fight Kid Diamond, but it got canned because Arum thought it might be to soon for him since the negative criticsm (WALLEY MATTHEWS) he received on Versus.
Anthony would rip Diamond a new one. I saw Kid's last fight live and while he looked good whenever Martinez would apply pressure, Diamond looked really uncomfortable.
Yeah we saw what happened when he faced Campbell's pressure. The dude has been in there with the best (2 of em anyway), so regardless of how high he's ranked, that'd be a good one too. You the first one to suggest a fighter he should take on.. Although that wasn't really a suggestion I guess, and it doesn't matter being that this thread probably won't take off without 'Margarito', 'Calzaghe', 'Oscar' or even 'PBF' in the title. When I first joined this forum I thought it'd be about the whole scene, not just fangirls raving about their favorite boxer and shit talkin any boxer or fan that opposes him. Nonstop boxing is basically 4000 threads all about the same shit, and anything new or of substance gets drowned out in the spam.

^^^ Clottey-Judah.
I wouldn't take too much for the Jauregui fight, he's a few years past his best.
Oh my mistake, i mentioned the wrong the fight. I meant his fight with Fernando Trejo when it came on versus. I forgot what the main even was that night.
Anthony Peterson just beat Javier Juargei (sp), the former IBF lightweight champ. It was a pretty big step up for him. A. Peterson is pretty good. Jury still out on Lamont, but he looks good too.
I know I had that in mind when I made the thread, I'm glad he made the attempt, but still Javier is well in his 30s and way past his prime. Also, let's not forget it was a vacant title, I don't wanna take anything away from him as he's faced ace competition his whole career, but we all knew how his fight with Anthony would go. Still it was a good step in the right direction, but a big part of that is because it SHOULD imply that he is going to keep on stepping it up in competition. Kinda the way Berto is going to fight Forbes, because we all know after that he is going to fight Collazo.
Yeah I've noticed that myself! I remember that fight, Anthony came out and blasted him for like 2-3 rounds and dude man quit. Now Anthony aint fightin on the same cards as his bro so much, so I figure maybe they will do their own thing, but instead he's doin a cheap imitation of Lamont. I can't figure these kids out.
Yeah, and i remember being upset when Anthony wouldn't go after Jauregui on versus. He had him dazed mid rounds but woldn't up the pressure. That fight was on the undercard of some big fight that night, i completely forgot the main event.
that sig is awesome
I made it myself with my mad skillls. Hahah nah I had my man natas make it for me. I told him the clips I wanted and he hooked it up for mad cheap too. You the first one to comment on it, thanks bro.
