Would Reyes be a good step up for Khan?
I havn't seen Reyes fight, so i don't know.
Reyes is a solid fighter, but he has his flaws and Khan will have a pretty big size advantage, I'll say Reyes is probably better than an old Michael Gomez but I'm not sure if he's better than Kristjansen so it's hard to say if it's a step up.
thanks i would love to see khan fight this guy, he is actually ranked, he holds a similar title to the one khan holds...could be a good match up!
I think a fight between Khan and Reyes would end pretty early honestly, Reyes doesn't have great defense and Khan is a good offensive fighter, I don't think Reyes would be able to deal with Khan's combinations.
Boxrec has Jose Reyes fighting Antonio DeMarco in September though, I'm not sure if it's just a rumor or not but.
However hes another former feather weight who hits like Paulie Magic Man... Warren seems to be trying to keep Amir Khan very safe, he better watch his mouth, as soon as he gets what he wants and fights a solid puncher/world champ, he will get battered. Don't get me wrong, hes got heart and he listens to everything except ONE thing, to take his time. Hes not Naseem Hamed who had the talent to get a world title at the age of 21, I know he wants to be another Naseem Hamed as hes stated before, but Naseem Hameds natural talent was beyond most of the worlds ability.
lol agreed!

Jose Reyes is the WBO Latino titlist, a solid fighter, ranked 8th by the WBO right now.
Off topic but Reyes' fight against Ivan Valle was one of the best fights this year.

I agree,
I think Khan should stick to orthadox and get his defense better from that. His main problem is his defense/chin, so if he can sort his defense out he will bo onto something. Switching his stance up just coplicates it, and he will get caught and hurt
Yeah, we'll see in his next fight how much improvements he's actually made, especially defensively although he did seem to keep his hands a little higher and his chin tucked a little better.

it did look like he was tucking his chin in a lil more than usual, normally he sticks it out there so a blind man could hit it!
he definately looked better, this rubio guy has a good amateur training pedigree so we shall see how he does with khan in the pro's, wbo latino champ...atleast the guy aint comin off a loss could be an actual test for khan...anyone know where he is ranked?

I agree, if he is actually working on switching he should take it step by step because it'll take a bit of time to get used to fighting out of a southpaw stance.

He has bad defense in his normal stance, If he tries to get cocky going southpaw he is gunna get his bell rung..

It does look like he has made some improvements to his overall technique, and I noticed he switched southpaw once when hitting the heavy bag, maybe he's working on switch hitting.

Derrick Gainer pulled out of the fight because "I don't fight just for the money, and I need more than 3 1/2 weeks notice" I read it in boxing news. Frank Warren is looking for a late fight substitute, possibly a WBO latino champ. (forgot name).
Oh wow, I didn't know that. I wonder who they will get now.

Btw don't you think he jumps a little to high when hes skipping? Even I don't jump that high...
he has great hand speed, i hope this guy acn sort his defence out tho! he is a great talent but needs to fight some real opposition and not fighters coming in off the back of 1, 2 and 3 losses! hope he fulfils his potential!
