It depends who you mean by "these bums." There are about ten HWs who would go in as betting favorites over Haye, so I hope you're not referring to them.
Haye's not going to fight a big Russian. He'll pick an old American name, preferably one without power. Toney fits that bill perfectly, with the bonus that he could give Haye an education without hurting him.
Theres only ONE fighter i could Gaurentee Haye loses to, Valuev.
The rest id give Haye at LEAST a 50/50 chance
id favour Haye in this fight but if i was Haye's manager this would be a fight i would avoid more than most
Toney is past it but he still knows enough to cause Haye lots of problems Haye is to wild and he does not fight strategically enough Toney would cause him plenty of trouble and have a realistic chance of beating him
Toney beats people by soaking up what they can dish out then capatalising when they are tired he has done it his whole career this is why i would give Toney a realistic chance in this fight id still pick Haye to win though after all Toney was outboxed by Peter and hurt in both fights and he looked garbage against Batchelder
Have to agree Toney is nearly done. Still a solid win tho coz even now James is as good as most of these bums

C'mon squeal, Toney is a very old man who lost a shutout to Sam Peter nearly two years ago. You can't pretend beating him would mean Haye's legit at HW. It would only be a nice exercise for him.

If Haye knocks out Toney will Toney be instantly described as "overrated" or will he be "shot"?

You never know what to expect from Toney. If I had to bet, I'd pick Haye. But I certainly wouldn't count Toney out, which is why I want this to happen.
Id start Haye favourite over most Heavys but with the very real chance of him getting knocked out, however i see no way how Toney can beat him!
Haye to get the Win but i wouldnt be surprised if he became the first to stop Ol' JT who is one of my All Time favourites
LOL in all David haye fights it has only ever had to go to the score cards once out of 22 fights.
even then all the judges scored it 120-108 to Haye :)
I think it's a fight worth seeing. It would be a good test for Haye against a against a skilled veteran like Toney.
James Toney however ain't the fighter he once was and i reckon with Haye's speed 'n' power, that he could be the man to put a KO on Toney?
The build-up and the press conferences would make good viewing seeing hows these two don't mind saying what they think.
It would be a very tough first fight since the step up in weight. I think it would make more sense as his second fight. A win against Toney would give his some credibility in the division.
If David Haye makes his heavyweight debut against James Toney, who would you pick if you were forced to bet on it? What kind of fight would this be?
** Hah, hah, this would be a Boozo kinda fight. Toney wins even when he loses and looks like a punch drunk face first journeyman.
Haye would have to be desparate to take a fight like this. I'd like to see him taking on the well whooped Thompson. Thompson at least provides a test and might well derail the Haye FlappingLips Bandwagon.
I'm going with Haye, I'm not convinced that Toney is 'back' or anything like that because Rahman was able to give Toney some trouble with his jab and grazed Toney a few times with right hands, Rahman was very slow.
It's hard to predict Toney fights, because he can be up and down a bit.
I think Haye would take a points win, but i think Toney is the sort of fighter that could make him look bad in the process.
If Toney comes in good shape it could be real close, he will more than likely come in out of shape though.
I find it tough to make a prediction on any Haye fight at HW, just because he is such an unknown element there. I hope he does well though, I really enjoy watching him fight and it is time someone made the HW division watchable again.
