Can someone explain why there arent more Chinese boxing champs? Japan, Thailand and the Philippines have produced plenty of champs so why hasnt China which has 1/5th of the world's population. They're obviously into combat sports.
chinese people are small, a successful chinese fighter probably wouldnt make money if they werent middleweight+ hence no appeal... i mean take ivan calderon for instance, taken him a long time to get known......why because he is small... and btw most chines boxers you will see are in his weight class and crap
with the number of chinese boxers dominating everyone in the boxing matches, i can see lots of decent boxers.... -.- as they all so good and the judges and referees are never biased.
Because Chinas closed off from outside influcence havent you been watching the Olympics, their culture is to Martial Arts, but hopefully the Beiinj boxing creates interest.
Yes that's true but you can find all of the major boxing competitions on the Chinese CCTV network. They're also much better physically suited for boxing than basketball which is one of the most popular sports in china today (largely do to Yao Ming). The Chinese government has been making a major push in sports and they could very easily dominate boxing so I dont understand why they havent made more of an attempt to promote it.
