i haven't been able to watch as much of the Olympic boxing as i would like to, so who's impressed you the most so far?
one of the few fights i've seen was the Cuban middleweight, Emilio Correa, schooling an Australian... anyone topped that performance?
Yeah, I'm hoping BJ'll get the win...
Lara succeded in his second attempt. He is now pro, and has won his debut already. This is a kid I train, doing very light sparring with him, about a year ago in Turkey:
If Saunders fights the way he fought last time out, he'll be a very tough guy to beat.
Very interesting, I didn't know he successfully defected, I'll need to keep my eye on him. Thanks for the video.
Yeah, he's got a few more gears. I'm hoping Saunders beats him though... :)
If Andrade isn't capable of stepping it up, that may very well happen.
I haven't seen Fletcher, but he can't be a complete chump, he's won Commonwealth gold before.
There aren't many chumps at the Olympics, and like you said, he's beaten Correa before.
My bad, I got confused about the Cuban. He received a bye so I can't call the fight.
I think he's only on the team because of Lara's failed defection.

Yeah, I was expecting a different fight based on that result. As it turned out, Correa was in a different class than Fletcher, and I'm thoroughly bemused at how Fletcher ever pulled off a win... :O
I've seen Correa a few times 'live' as well, and this was definitely the best I've ever seen him.

He got a clear decision over Turkey's Adem Kilicci who was a bronze medalist in the World Championships last year.
Bradley Saunders is the one who scored the 1st round knockout.
Next fight will be tough for him though, he's up against a Cuban who put in a good performance himself.

I haven't seen this fight but the Cuban must have put in a good performance as Fletcher, the Aussie, had beaten him 9 weeks earlier.

is that the one who got a round 1 KO?

really? the Cuban schooled him... won by a massive gap in points (and rightly so for once)
looked very skillful

No that was Bradley Saunders at light welter. Billy Joe fights at welter.
They're not related.
I agree, Billy Joe was very impressive. Look out for Matvey Korobov at middleweight as well.
