it Doesn't Matter How This Looks To Other People. If This Is Something You Gotta Do, Then You Do It. Fighters Fight.
From Rocky Balboa
Nice Man, Nice!!!!!!
Because he just barley lost to the so called number 2 "P4P" by a SD at the age of 43 and Laughing once the fight was over. He didn't have a scratch on his ugly face and still doesn't consider being defeating. I think once he IS really defeated he will walk away. Until then he will continue to "fight". Good on him. He's a boring fighter but still hangs with the best. EASY, too easy for a 43 years old. NO ONE has ever done what he's doing. So that's why he "CAN" still fight.
When you've been doing the same thing for say 20 yrs its not easy to just walk away from it, especially if you love it and get paid for it. Hopkins is getting old but there are still these young fighters out there that he feels he has to and can still beat, If you could recieve head from a girl for 20 yrs straight and 5 dollars, would you just call it off once you couldnt catch ood anymore?
Bernard Hopkins is probably one of the most wealthy boxers on the planet, It's not for money, Its because he can.
Hes fit and able to compete, Most of all he loves the sport and hasn't lost his hunger, Hes still able to train harder than most active boxers.
Watch his interview on this site, He tells all.
This is habit for athletes. They've been doing it their whole lives. Imagine having a routine set in for 15-20 years and then just stopping that routine cold turkey.
I think Hopkins retired and realised how much he loved the sport. Kind of like what happened to Favre. He's also at a point now where losing any fight will do nothing to hurt his legacy.
Hopkins likes fighting and is still having some success against the top fighters. If Hopkins takes a beating in the ring or starts getting injuries I think he would hang 'em up.
He made a lot of money, but he probably wasn't smart enough to manage it wisely, like Holyfield and Tyson.
So he's probably fighting because he needs the money.
Doesn't Hopkins own 12% of GBP? If he does, he'll never be short of money.

What evidence do you have of this and why did you choose Hopkins as someone who might be financially troubled?
because he's still on top of his game and he is still better than 98% of who is available right now in boxing, besides, hopkins hasn't taken a beating at all in his career, all his losses have been academic, not due to getting beaten up. so with that and years of taking tremendous care of his body, the best defense in the business, hopkins has a significant amount of fight left in him and it's still in the A game level, so why not keep fighting?
besides, hopkins is a born fighter, a modern day warrior, with a warriors heart, retiring from boxing for hopkins has gotta more like work or toture to him than an actual relief............
it's sad but it's true, more people, they say, die from retirement more than anything else. they've spent their whole lives working and living a certain way, now that that lifestyle isnt there and there isnt that kind of drive to motivate you throught the day, its got to be a slow death to a hard worker who isn't working anymore, and when it comes to boxing, just training isnt going to cut it, they need the competition, it drives them, same with bhop.
we've seen it time and time again, older fighters keep fighting on because they're trained to do so and have conditioned their lives a certain way. now, since that isnt there no more what are they going to do, even james" big bubba deep fry" toney doesn't want to stop fighting, even though he doesn't give two shits about his weight or conditioning, the fight is always going to be there, which is weird for toney, because usually when people who have been boxing for as long as toney has and has had dropped a lot of weight
a bunch of times and then ballooned up, especially as much as he has, usually they don't want shit to do with boxing anymore, they're spent and they're content to be fat and happy.......not toney. and certainly not hopkins neither....
hopkins is going to be the doyle brunson of boxing if he could get away with it...............
you know...... we complain but.........
you , live dog and i are always the only 3 on his threads today. lol
lol
i've noticed that too, I hope he doesnt think I'm a fan.
Exactly. The extra dough doesn't hurt but they love the game period. It's hard to step away from what you have been doing for years.
i'm just waiting for bernard to jump to heavy and fight holyfield......
Same reasons Brett Favre wants to keep playing football.
