Berto UD: The popular consensus iss that Berto is a young, talented up & coming fighter that is still "green" isn't quite ready for that "next level" yet, despite being a title holder in his respected division. Clottey presents a tough, hard headed, experienced pugilist, that knows how to hold his own.
First, Even though I respect Josh's game, I don't believe he is an ELITE Welterweight; those would be: Margarito, Williams, Cotto, & Mosley. Clottey to me is a, "what you see is what you get" type of fighter! He's a very sound tactician, but I BELIEVE he can be out -worked/hustled, slicked, classed! Albeit he's a natual counter-puncher, Clottey lacks a CONSISTENT jab & (as evidence in several fights) CONDITIONING MAY BE a problem for him. He'll either start slow, finish strong or vice-versa; it seems as he doesn't have that "2nd gear" & he's just on cruise control! I've honestly never seen him fight HARD for a full 12...
Now we KNOW Betro is YOUNG & the Rivera KNOCKDOWN is fresh in a lot of people's minds. Truth be told, IF Berto is going to accomplish GREATNESS in the sport of boxing, the time to do it is NOW. He's the WBC champ, (bogus title, I KNOW) & I'm SURE he's MOTIVATED by that and understands what he HAS to do! He still makes mistakes, but I see where his Jab, Combos, (under-rated) Defense, & Foot-Work can frustrate Clottey, in route to a close, but clear Unaminous Decision.
I wouldn't mind seeing this fight next year. I think Berto wins by decision. I think it's a close fight, but I think he would be able to withstand Clottey for 12 rounds.
Berto's a good boxer, but at this point I think Clottey would be able to break through his defense. He places his punches well and they are very sharp. I say Clottey by UD or possibly late stoppage.
It has been a good while since Clottey has gotten a stoppage or KO.

As of right now, I would have to agree. I think a Berto vs. Judah fight could be bonkers, myself.

Berto has yet to face a world class fighter so I doubt they are interested in matching him up with a guy that would be favored to win. I can see him facing Zab Judah, given that he has a way of getting title shots.
I agree. Even though Clottey went home with the title, it will be Judah who gets the better offers.
I Rate Clottey he has a top notch Defence and is a good all rounder but i got Berto! But yeah agreed he'd be better to wait a while but then again the guy is a world champion now he shouldnt have to say im not ready yet he is a champion and should be let off the leash to fight anyone! Personally id have waited before getting him the title
I don't think there is a chance Berto's people take this fight anytime in the near future.

I think Berto will do good in the beginning but Clottey has a tight defense. I can see him slipping in punches reaching through Berto's somewhat leaky defense. It's a pretty good fight I want to see it happen.
