There was a rematch clause?
I read an article not too long ago Ill try to post it claiming that Cotto has a 1 year gap to get Margarito into a rematch on demand.
he was the title holder, he should have the first shot at his belt if he loses it.
That cut was horrible. It could not have continued. Clottey has some defense though. I think he can beat Margarito in a rematch.
dude the cut is what it is and it was in a bad spot but he could have continued and the docotor was ready to let him continue until he insisted he could not see. A man fighting for his professional career does not want to leave his lively hood in the hands of three judges that probably can't stand him for his bad boy reputation to begin with. While I thought the fight was competitive and at points Judah showed why he was the Undisputed Wleter Wieght Champ he could have elected to continue at least through the 9th round and really go for broke. Althought it may have been an impossible task score a KO or at least show us some power and knock Clottey down. If he would have done something like that and then had the figth stopped not say "I can't see...uh your holding three fingers uh...your holding up two fingers.....Duh where's Brooklyn at??/ Ya'll know who won the fight right??
Zab you clearly didn't win the fight and if you had an unbiased corner man rather then your dad he might have told you were behind a round or two. But you are coached by your pop and live off your prior achievments but your big name is no longer gonna get you paid so when you needed to show us who you really were you opted out of the fight rather then saying I am fine let me go......
Nuff said my mann Zab may have Ko'd his own career.....Oh by the way I picked Zab over Clottey just for an FYI I was even ready to place wagers on it but i am glad I was unable to do so....
Hell no will Judah wanna fight Cotto next.
They could rematch down the line but for judah now its all about
picking up whats left of his career if anything
I hear there pushing for the clottey rematch
Dude after watching Zab the other night I am convinced he is not whole heartedly into boxing. he is not the same fighter and he is satisfied with being medicore and living off his reputation with his hometown fans much like the likes of Marbury of the Knicks. he could have clearly continued in the fight but in my mind he thought he was ahead of Clottey and knew with Byrd stating it was a head butt raher then the clear punch the HBO replays showed he could win on the cards and get his way out of figting the last 3 or so rounds. Zab doesn't deserve Cotto and if he wants to regain his status in the division he needs to have a rematch with Clottey but truely I don't even think he deserves that. Clottey deserves a big payday but unfortunately due to his hard to deal with style and we all know styles make fights he probably won't get it.
To answer the question of the thread I do not not think Cotto having a rematch with Zab makes sense at this point for Cotto. if he is simply choosing a fight to get back on track then he can find a more suitable opponenet at 147 then Zab. It would make a goodname but at this point Zab's anme at worth the paper it is printed on. Cotto's SHOULD defintely fight Colttey in his next fight. CLottey's great D and his come forward style would sim to Margarito's but he is a smaller man. I think Cotto should pick an easy target out next time and then maybe one more tune up with a Clottey if he still has a belt before a rematch with margarito for the undisputed title again.
Great post.
Oh shit!!!
I just thought about this.
Both are coming off of loses.
This should be good.

zab Looked Kinda Shot Against Clottey. I Wonder How Much He Got Left..
Like A I Say Before I Think He Got Tears Eyes After The Decision Was Announce .. I Will Not Be Surprise If He Retire..

I don't think he's shot, he looked a little slower but it was a pretty good performance overall from him.
on that note. No he doesn't need Zab. Zab should've been nothing more than a gate keeper by now and somehow he keeps getting one chance after another, while Cotto was undefeated and he was giving a beating in the first six rounds and if it wasn't that he ran out of gas well...u get the picture.
Cotto will get a nobody to beat up on and head to the big names imminently. I wouldn't be surprise to see him vs clottey by the end of the year
we don't know how well Cotto will recover from his loss yet though...
and i agree it seems to make the most sense for his come back fight... either Zab, Collazo or Clottey
He's been talking about fighting already before the end of the year and he seems very relaxed as far as accepting the loss. I think he will be better than before. He seems to be one of the guys that become better after a loss.
Look at Tony, if it wasn't for the loss he got vs Williams he would've loss big time vs Cotto but he learned from that loss to keep on pressuring and swinging no matter what. Cotto will grab what he needs from this loss and carry on...
As for Cotto I think he should relax get hinmself together and Rematch Margarito before his clause runs out.
Maybe taking on a guy like Collazo or a Tall guy before Margs again

The dude was robbed in a couple fights had some bad losses.
I say throw Zab some run though opponents and let him build himself back up to go ahead and take on shane mosley again
Rizo..aren't you the one that though Zab would've KO'd Cotto if not for the low blows?
Only in the first round. Rewatching the fight, Zab didnt have much of a chance for the other 10 rounds.
