I know i just did one of these but this fight changes things!
1) Margarito (beat the man at #1, loss to Williams was close) - I got criticism for this before, but lots of people had Margarito beating Williams (Steve Kim, Dougie Fisher).
That's actually besides the point. I had Williams slightly winning pulling out the 12th round and the boxing match, though if I was scoring based on who won the "fight" I'd say Margarito did because at the end of the day, his punches hurt the other guy a lot more than the other guy's hurt him.
the real factor is that Cotto was the number 1 guy, hands down! Margarito beat him, Margarito is now #1. When Ali beat George Foreman, Joe Frazier didn't become champ just because he had previously beaten Ali. You have to beat the number 1 guy when he is number 1 to take the spot...
2) Paul Williams
3) Cotto
4) Shane
5) Clottey
6) Collazo (yeah Berto has the belt, but he aint fought nobody. He's ducking Luis so I got him at 7.)
7) Berto
8) Cintron
9) Quintana
10) Judah
Agree or disagree?!? what are yours?
I think Williams should be above Margarito because he BEAT Margartito. not an older margotirto but the same one who just beat Cotto. And im sure Paul is a better fighter then cotto anyway. After having a bad night againgt carlos, he avenged his loss the way a real champ should, and completely erased any doubt that carlos was better then he was.
1) Paul Williams
2) Antonio Margarito
3) Miguel Cotto
4) Shane Mosley
5) El INDIO Quintana
6) Joshua Clottey
7) Kermit Cintron
8) Luis Collazo
9) Andre Berto
10) Zab Judah
A good list, but I couldn't put Cintron ahead of Quintana because he's never beaten anybody. Quintana has the win over Williams and even his win over Julio is better than any win on Cintron's list. I'd also have Berto ahead of Collazo.
I agree with that Scott. I also think Cintron is the most overrated fighter on that list.
My opinions of Kim and Fisher just went crashing down.........
Margarito really only hurt Williams in round 11. That was it. Williams clearly won 115-113.
Even though Ali had just beaten Frazier in a rematch to get at a shot at George :smashfrea
Williams beat Margarito so I don't think Margarito has the right to call himself champ. I honestly think they should be tied in the rankings.
i think the fact that margarito lost to a higher rated guy(williams who was number one contendor for his belt) and williams lost to quintana who was number 2 i think should give margarito a better push.
sure williams beat margarito but he lost to quintana then avenged it
margarito lost to williams then beat cintron and the number one guy in the division

i agree with margarito over williams,
When williams beat margarito he was not number one, the he lost to a guy who wasnt a top 5, since the he beat quintana but i think quintana was only maybe number 4 or 3 at best.
margarito beat the number one guy and cintron who was maybe 4 or 5 at the time of the fight
1. Williams
2. Margarito
3. Clottey
4. Cotto
5. Mosley
6. Quintana
7. Berto
8. Judah
9. Collazo
10. Cintron
if Cotto hadn't lost, I'd have the same order only with Cotto at 1

i hate the confusion though because between quintana, williams, and margarito there is a bit of drama...quintana beat williams once and loss to him once...williams beat margarito and margarito beat cotto...
the list is pretty much on 100% i would just change a spot or two of some of the fighters...i would move quintana up; cintron down...
collazo down and berto up...just tiny moves like that but those are the top 10 welterweights in my opinion.
i am biased with that aspect of the ranking- im the first to admit, but i do objectively think (if that is even possible) that he can beat berto at this stage....
I don't agree that Collazo is ahead of Berto.

Good list! I'll side with T-97 on Collazo and Berto, but its close. I'd like to see them fight one another, I think Collazo could beat him. But until that time Berto gets the slight edge in the rankings.
ps, these top 10 are pretty obvious. many people will have different variations. IS there anyone who thinks someone else belongs in the top 10 in any spot?!? Any honorable mentions?!?
