right now: Paul Williams (the man's freaky reach will be difficult for Mayweather to escape from)
prime-for-prime: Shane Mosley could possibly beat him, although i think he may be a little far down the line to do it now
I voted Paul Williams but i can see Paul lose as well. floyd was really in a class of his own at least he appeared so when he fought and those were some big hard fights too. we will probably never know how he'd be vs paul, margo or cotto... I'd worry more about fighters how are currently in the game though.
In my opinion (and he be sure floyd's not very different) it would take an undefeated 35+ fights with around 70% ko ratio and a very exciting style which got people talking to bring floyd back. The general public is dumb, they are suspicious if they are told margarito is the best ww now. they will think the division is weak because the best guy is 30 and has 5 losses. To get past that they really should stop protecting prospects so much. because the secret meaning behind the word "undefeated" is: "he was not beaten because no one has been able to beat them, they all tried and failed" but ironically you have undefeated guys having their first real fight at age 28, wtf?! It's a trick to play with people. This make real fighters like margarito who have started at a young age and had some learning losses look very bad. and this is killing potential good fights.
I don't think that anyone with slow footwork and average to bad boxing skills ie: Cotto/Margarito/Williams would ever beat Mayweather.
My pick: Mosley.
I voted for Paul Williams. I just think his attributes would give Floyd the toughest fight out of those four guys. I just think Cotto gets easily outboxed by Floyd. I doubt there are any logical boxing fans out there that still think that Cotto could hang with Floyd after last week. I also think Floyd's speed and defensive skills would be too much for Magarito to overcome. However I would give him a greater chance than Cotto. As for Mosley I think he would be the easiest of the four fights for Floyd. He is well past his prime now and just doesn't have any advantages whatsoever over Floyd. In past interviews I have seen with Shane he did not seem too keen on a match with Floyd and I think it is pretty easy to see why. I would still pick FLoyd to win all four fights by reasonably easy decisions.
Williams. Too fast and his volume punches would offet anything Mayweather would even think about doing. It would resemble Wlad vs Ibragomov with Williams being Wlad.
What a terrible analysis...

Only Williams could beat him. Everyone else at Welter doesn't stand a chance.
Before anybody accuses me of being a 'fanboy' i am not. People need to recognise talent no matter what race or Country they're from.
Floyd is a marvelous fighter, if you can't see that then you need to stop riding you're fighters dick for a second (Marg/Cotto fans) and explain how they can beat Floyd.
I have huge respect for Margarito and Cotto and i am a fan of Cotto, but i'll admit that Floyd would be a big mistake to face.
yikes... theyd all be tough. id say in this order...
1) pw
2) cotto
3) sugar
4) margarito
styles make fights. even though margairto beat cotto, styles make fights. i would predict that pw beats floyd. that is a tough, tough, tough matchup. i would think that floyd can handle margaritos aggression and not get hit too much with his world class D'.
he could also lose to all 4... he could also beat all 4, i'd love to see floyd fight them all to find out! if he could win, he'd be considered one of the greatest ever- no doubt. but now... he is a borderline great whose exact spot in history is murky imo...
I'd say Williams, Margy,Cotto and then Mosley in that order.....I think the first 3 could beat him on a good night but I'm not convinced after watching Cotto box with Mosley that Mosley could beat Floyd at this point in his career.
