Do you have any unpopular opinions in the boxing world? Is there a fighter you think is a bum despite a lot of hype? Do you think a decision a particular fighter got was a robbery despite everybody agreeing with it?
Here 1 of mine at the moment.
1: Antonio Margarito isn't exciting
I don't see it. I don't like many fighters, so I don't have a rooting interest in him, so I don't see how anybody outside of 'fans' can really find him fun to watch. A fight has the possibility to end 4 ways 99% of the time: Fighter A by T/KO, Fighter A by decision, Fighter B by T/KO, and Fighter B by decision. Margarito essentially eliminates one of the most exciting options since he basically wont be knocked out. While this is a point that makes people like him if they're fans, as somebody who doesn't like him I see it as a selling point.
2: Abraham dominated Miranda in their first fight
I received a lot of flack the day of this fight after posting about how even with his broken jaw and fighting off of his back foot he was still beating Miranda in a lot of rounds. I've since watched the fight again and still have absolutely no way of Miranda even being close on the cards. If you take away all of the point deductions then the score gets close, but I think I still had Abraham ahead by a point.
You can try to debate mine or other's opinions if you want, but if they're posting them they're all ready aware of it being unpopular and are used to responses. Try not to post fights that are 50/50 and say you can't believe how they gave it to a particular fighter or crap like that.
Hatton isn't exciting to watch
He's exciting for his fans to cheer for. If you're a Hatton fan and he fights a bum in Manchester, they will delight in him blowing the poor guy out of the water.
"it takes a lack of education and being raised surrounded by crackheads and gangbangers."
He is assuming that because ICANTLIE is black he was surrounded or was raised by gang bangers and crackheads which is a racial stereotype.
It wasn't racist. I would've said exactly the same thing if it was a white fighter from a shithole like detroit.
Oh... forgot one...
James Toney... is going to the hall of fame. Why, the voters will be smart enough to vote him in just to hear his acceptance speech.
1. Euro fighters are trash and will never rival american fighters.
2. Casamayor is the Shit.
3. A shot Jones will beat Calzaghe.
4 James Toney is one of the greatest fighters I have ever seen.
I agree with every one of those :luvbed:
Eubanks clearly wasn't an elite class fighter when he fought Joe.
Mayweather doesn't get enough credit when he cleaned up divisions earlier in his career.
Valuev is a better boxer than people give him credit for.
Juan Manuel Marquez might have a bigger/better legacy than Barrera or Diaz if he ever get a W vs Pacman and beats Casamayor.
Baldomir wasn't a Bum
Judah is a Little Cry baby
Margarito isn't the best WW in the division
154 is a garbage division
The Pac-DLH will be one of the worst mismatches in history
Meldrick Taylor deserved the last two seconds of his fight against Chavez
Margarito Fans are hypocrites
- Pavlik is nothing special
- Hopkins' career >>>> Roy Jones' career
- neither Cotto nor Margarito are top 5 p4p
I think I agree with all of that, definitely the first and last point
I think less of quitters; for example...
Kostya Tszyu totally quit against Ricky Hatton and had no reason for doing so. The fight was definitely winnable, but he acted like he was down 4 points heading into round 12. I don't think it's acceptable to quit that late in a fight when you're not even being clearly beaten. I catch a lot of flack for calling Tszyu a quitter over that, but he quit. That's what quitters do. They quit.
To respond to the initial post
1. I don't like or respect Margarito because he's all chin and no skill or talent. But I do think he's exciting and don't miss his fights.
2. The first time I watched the fight I thought Abraham won about 8 rounds but on the rewatch I think I gave Miranda more rounds. It might just be one of those fights that I go back and forth on the rest of my life.
i can stand for that aswell ,Castillo pushed him further than Oscar did aswell i guess
Yeah Oscar is the best opponent Floyd has been in with but Castillo was his toughest test. Castillo was young and hungry while Oscar was older and semi retired.
I like all of those, except that I think Castillo was Mayweather's best opponent.

Ike Quartey clearly beat Oscar De La Hoya, but people only like to look at the 12th round,
Co-sign it always makes me laugh when i hear people say he pulled the fight out LOL
Jones pulled the fight out in the first Tarver fight in the last 3 rounds , Oscar lost clearly
You missed his point. He was talking about Toney when he said that, not ICANTLIE
My man, what I said still stands. It doesn't matter who he was talking about, there was an implied agenda.
If anything he is underrated. It's not my fault that you listen to fans like viva then hate the fighter because they have a small following of overrating, sack swinging fans.
Maybe you missed the post where I said prominent members of BS were doing it.
And I dont hate him. I respect him a lot. He has great skills and balls.
Thats pretty much it. If someone can't see the racial overtones, there eyes are shut. I won't call him a racist, but it was a stereo typical racial response in my opinion.
