1. Pick a favorite fighter of yours
2. Plot a career path for the next few years
I don't want this to be a hate thread where guys bash on a fighter and say what he should do and how he isn't doing it.
You don't have to act in the fighter's best interests either (even though you like him). Plot a course that would lead him to potential greatness or just make for some great fights in general.
3. Be as realistic as possible
James Toney- coming down the stretch of his career he needs to target one of the champions. Chagaev suits his style best. Beat him, take the WBA title, and retire as a heavyweight champion.
late 2008 - tko ricky for his 140 title
early 2009 - ko guzman for all the 135 belts
mid 2009 - tko marquez for his lineal belt
late 2009 - tko juan diaz to defend his belts
early 2010 - retirement fight at 140 against floyd for big money
My exact sentiment
Ricky Hatton:
1. Knocks out Malinaggi
2. Beats Pacquiao in superfight
3. Gets the rematch with Mayweather and wins in a fight refereed fairly
4. Retires the best in the world.
i realize this thread is about our fantasy career paths, but i don't think hatton can beat mayweather even in HIS dreams....
pernell whitaker is a way different fighter and way different body type he was sturdy and super fast feet.
Mijares goes up he will get slaughtered he is not special enough that is why he cuts weight to have an advantage at lower weights.
If he fought at 130 he would get pulverized badly especially by a guy 5 feet 9.
Hence why I didn't include 130. Mijares has good footspeed, but he has exceptional swaying to get out of the way of punches. He's lengthy, but so was Thomas Hearns. I compared to Pernell Whitaker because Whitaker was also 5'6. Pernell really never got hit when he kept going up and it wasn't sure whether his chin was solid or not. It was never until he took some decent shots from De La Hoya and a beating from Trinidad that we knew he had an iron chin.
I think Mijares could carry the weight up to 118, 122, and maybe 126.

Manny Pacquiao:
- dispose of Edwin Valero
- fight the Juan Diaz vs. Michael Katsidis winner
- unify at Lightweight by beating the Casamayor vs. J.M.Marquez and Guzman vs. Campbell winners (in any order)
- fight Ricky Hatton
- if he beats Hatton, retire. if he loses to Hatton, go back to lightweight and fight whoever poses the biggest threat to him at the time then retire
Wow, some unrealistic proposals here.
Joe Calzaghe:
November 2008: Wins a convincing UD over Roy Jones Jr. Convincing but not one-sided to give the win a little more credability.
May 2009: Beats Kelly Pavlik by 11th round TKO to defend title at 168. One-sided fight (as I believe it will be) with Pavlik running out of gas chasing a KO.
October 2009: Moves back up to 175 to fight Chad Dawson, winning a close, exciting fight. Retires undefeated with even the staunchest Calzaghe hater begrudgingly giving him the respect he already deserved.
Could happen and I think it will with the exception of the Dawson fight. I can dream though.
roy jones
1) ko's calzaghes
2) rematches glen johnson and masterfully boxes/outclasses him to win every round. no need for a rematch its so obvious.
3) meantime, tarver stops dawson
4) jones kos tarver (through the ropes) for masterful career ending.......
or so we think...
5) enticed to come out of retirement to fight david haye who has knocked out klitschko (who has already beaten peter to unify the titles)
6) roy outboxes haye in embarassing fashion and retires from the game...
BHOP
1) B-hop outclasses pavlik for 12 rd ud.
2) calzaghe comes back for rematch after being ko'd by roy only to be ko'd by b-hop
3) by now jt has beaten froch and lacy for two supermiddleweight belts
4) b-hop knocks out jt to become a 3 weight division champ!
Really? Those are almost impossible to achieve considering both fighter are at the very end of there careers and those choice would take both past a year which add more age to them.
haha. i kno bro. its not my prediction. its my dream scenario. i forgot to say that roy goes on to be the 2nd black president with b-hop as vp. james toney becomes the speaker of the house!

Ricky Hatton
November 08
Hatton knocks out Paulie in 6 rounds.
May 09
Hatton beats Cotto in catchweight contest. Hatton takes a ud in brutal 12 round war at wembley stadium
Hatton then retires
mijares will never be much at 122 or 126 he would get knocked silly trust me.
dude is rail thin.
So was Pernell Whitaker and he went all the way up to 154. Mijares has crazy good reflexes. I could definietly see him beating Vasquez. 126 is iffy.
you say that now, but you will hate it when your favorites collide because you won't want either to lose yet a draw helps neither. Trust me, I experienced this twice with Toney and Rahman (my two favorite heavies). Both times I didn't want either to lose and both fights had no winner. I guess it worked out well because Rahman deserved to win the first fight and Toney deserved to win the second without any official winners being declared. but it sucks watching your favorites fight it out.
Ahhh crap, i don't want the fight made now. You've ruined all anticipation for a clash between the two
Two of my favourite fighters, Can't wait for the day it happens/if it happens

Mayweather:
UD win over Margarito early '09
KO win over Pacquiao mid-late '09
UD win over Cotto early 2010
UD win over Mosely mid 2010
Final fight, UD victory against some weak middleweight champion
retirement
I'm probably with the minority of posters here on NSB who'd actually like to see a rematch with DLH first?
Cristian Mijares:
August 30th: Beat sasakul to a pulp
November 15th: Steal the show on the Taylor-Lacy undercard by crushing Vic Darchinyan and making history by being the first fighter in the lower weights to unify 3 titles.
February 2009: On a WCB have the card Arum was talking about. Mijares will fight Fernando Montiel and beat him by UD and taking all the titles in Super Flyweight. Meanwhile Nonito Donaire crushes Jorge Arce
late April 2009: Beat Nobou Nashiro as a tune up fight getting ready for Nonito Donaire.
Early July 2009: Fight Nonito Donaire and beat him by making him his 10th defense at Super flyweight and then moving up.
September 2009: Move up to bantam weight, fight tune up.
December 2009: Beat Abner Mares or Hozumi Hasegawa (who's ever king at Bantamweight) and move on.
Late february 2010: Fight Ponce De Leon and make a statement at 122.
May 2010: Beat Juan Manuel Lopez/Israel Vasquez/Who ever is king at 122 and make a statement.
Then do this until he clears out 122. Or if there is a star *cough Gamboa cough* at 126 move up to fight him.
Kessler vs. Dawson? Hmmm. I like that match-up. And it's possible that it could happen. Could be a very good fight! :boxing:

UD Calzaghe - Early 2009
Fight/Rematch Johnson-Diaconu winner UD Johnson/TKO Diaconu - Mid 2009
UD Kessler - Fall 2009
TKO Pavlik - Early 2010
