I fought a deaf boxer back in 1989....a VERY tough guy!! I always wondered, many did, if his lack of hearing somehow contributed to him being so tough. I stopped him on cuts in 6 rounds...but he took a lot of punches and complained when the ref stopped it. I was really coming on and letting loose but he wanted more.
On another note, I some him fight a kid about one month earlier in NY and the guy actually went into a coma the same night
Hes got a good excuse though if he does :lol1:
The ref would be aware of his disability and step in when the bell rings.
true what about if he ko is opponent with one single punch after the bell?
nah a deaf boxer will get disqualified after 1 round is over because he will not hear the ring bell and keep punching is opponnet....

It probably gives you a slight edge, I can imagine a deaf boxer being a lot more focused than his opponent, He has no distractions at all ... Would be like being in your own little matrix.
thatd be a pretty good movie eh?

Except you would pay more attention to the middle fingers in the crowd.

Are there any notable deaf fighters? I was thinking about disabilities that would prevent you from boxing the other day and deaf wasn't one of them.
Yeah, there is a deaf boxer. His name is Jermain Taylor, NEVER listens to his corner.
