I actually think Manny has a good shot to beat DLH. Forbes has a horrible KO% (9 out of 33) and was hitting DLH all night. If Manny hits him like that DLH is getting KOTFO.
Ahahaha so you think Oscar took a dive to give Bernard a fancy title in Golden Boy? Yes that makes sense, Bernard's knowledge in business and promoting are so great, that Oscar stained his own record with a knockout loss just to recruit him. Afterall, who has a better business sense than Benard, what with all his mega million dollar paydays? Or maybe that was just a brutally accurate punch to the already worn out body of an out of gas de la hoya. He was not prepared for that fight.
A lot of people (most) are calling it a joke of a fight, I just don't see it that way. I think Pac has a decent shot.
no doubt about it! If DLH doesnt knockout pac sometime in the first 7 rounds i dont see him winning the fight. pacquiao speed will get to a gassed DLH and knock him out not by one left hand but by a combination of a lot of deadly punches. pac has gotten a lot better with his right hand over the years. i think pac by 9th rd KO over a passed prime tired DLH. if DLH wins he wins by KO in 7 rds or less but i dont see it.
well yeah even a faded DLH is still a high caliber fighter.
his skill set and power certainly haven't eroded him too much.
and I believe the Forbes comparison is a bad one to use as Oscar clearly didn't respect Steve's power and simply didn't really care if he got hit.
Oscar better be training hard and in shape, because this was talked about hurting DLH's legacy if he wins, but imagine if he got kayoed.
im back to being on the fence as looking at the sheer size discrepancy makes fans think of this bout as a "joke"
** to put this into a little bit of perspective ...and work with me here, cuz im using height
if anyone saw Margarito-Cotto .... Cotto's 5'7 and Margarito is 5'11
Manny Pac is 5'6 where Oscar is 5'10 1/2
but I guess that's the attraction to the fight, the unknown.
all I know though is Marquez's left hook had an effect on Manny and that was at 130.
I see Oscar either putting Manny away inside 6, or throwing too many punches, gassing out and losing.
look for HBO to hype the holy hell out of this fight as it really is shaping up to be a David vs Goliath of epic proportions
De La Hoya going after a new Pound For Pound #1 all over again.
Pac scored his last 2 KDs with short left hands. Maybe he can stop DLH with one full blown straight left punch.
A flyweight Pac knocked down a Japanese welterweight in sparring. He also floored his Russian welterweight sparmate when he was 126. No doubt he can punch. But like they say, it's different under the lights. Who knows?..
DLH's definetly on the downside of his career, im in full agreement on that
and if Manny can avoid taking heavy damage in the early rounds, he very well could tire Oscar out and possibly stop him on accumulation
but if were going punch for punch, I would have to think that Manny taking DLH's best punch would be a bigger problem then Oscar taking Manny's best shots.
even at 35, DLH's always been a big puncher.
I'd agree with all you said there.
The more I think about the better shot I give Manny. Right now Oscar is still incredibly overrated. If Pacquiao tries to duplicate Mosley in the first DLH fight and isn't careless, he could pull it off.
I know where my money will be Scott (on Pac). And you know I rarely bet dogs.

Other then reddening up Oscar's face Forbes really didn't do all that much, it was a virtual shut out.
Oscar maybe older, and past his best but he still has one of the better chins in boxing.
even if DLH does get his like he did vs Forbes no way he gets kayo'd. personal pride will not allow De La Hoya to get kayo'd by a former 106 pounder who's fighting his first fight as a Welter.
although a kayo by Manny can happen (won't completely rule it out) I'd seriously have to doubt it.
That's what I'm saying man. Forbes can't hit for shit (he has 9 KO's in 33 wins)...If that was Manny's fist, DLH would of been out. At the very least, he'll have to respect Manny's punch more than Forbes. I'm not saying those are the only factors...Forbes is better than Pac defensively, so that will definetly come into play. All I'm saying is Pac has a better shot than people think with DLH on the downslide and Manny having much more power than Forbes who was tagging DLH all night.

100% agree that Manny has real chance of delivering DLH floorward.

and in regards to Diaz size, who cares, he coulda fought at Middleweight
he was still the worst Lightweight Alphabet title holder at the time Pac-Man took him on, and I think that's a heck of a lot more relivent the how much "bigger" Diaz was then Pac-Man.
yes I put "" on bigger I saw Pac-Man vs Diaz and they looked pretty even sized to me.
lol I doubt that Oscar wants to go out on a loss.
If he wanted to take a dive or loss he would of fought margarito.
Oscar hates manny with a passion because manny embarrassed him and lied to him Roach said Oscar really does hate pacman.
The rumor was oscar wanted pacman to come train in puerto rico with him for his solis fight and oscar wanted to spar with him and teach him a lesson.
Oscar sparred with ivan calderon for the floyd jr fight and could barely touch him.
Pacman is not a defensive technician so a small guy who has no defensive slickness will not fair well at 147.
never in the history has a 106 pounder went up all the way to 147 throughout his career to beat a 147 pounder.
its just impossible to me.
Never in history has someone gone through the weight classes like Manny has either... He had an extremely tough time making 130, so who's to say where his natural full blown weight lies. People were saying how huge Diaz was...Diaz fought at 147 for several years, and Manny took homeboy out with ease.
okay and what's your point?
Forbes has fought more fights at the 147-150 range then Manny has
this is Pac's first fight above 140
who knows how well he can handle Oscar's best punch?
My only point...Is that Pac has a better shot than people think.
Forbes...who fought at 130 did well against him...If DLH gets hit like he did against Forbes...He's getting KO'd. Also, DLH is only getting older, while Pac is in prime.

and yes Forbes was fighting more defensively vs Oscar because his "hitting DLH" all night, didn't really do shit as far as hurt DLH or allow Forbes to win rounds
so you can say "he was hitting DLH all night long"
but how many rounds did Forbes win?
