There is no denying that Lacy has diminished as fighter since his loss to Calzaghe and his shoulder surgery. He no longer looks like the Lacy that was ferociously ripping left hooks knocking his opponents out left and right. He was less than stellar in a fight where he struggled with Peter Manfredo and was SERIOUSLY hurt against C level fighter, Epifano Mendoza. Most can agree that in a fight where Lacy was supposed to show that he was back to form against Mendoza, it could have easily gone the other way.
Taylor on the other had, TO ME at least, seems more dangerous now since his 2 losses to Pavlik. He was given a reality check by Pavlik's strong right hand in the first fight, but Taylor adjusted and fought smarter in the second fight. Even though he lost the rematch, it was obvious that Taylor was determined and he made great adjustments. He may now posses the knowledge needed to utilize his best advantages more efficiently, but of course we may not know this for sure until he fights someone else. But i do think thats the direction of which he's heading.
So with this in mind, seeing how Taylor improved in his second fight with Pavlik and how Lacy has diminished since his loss to Calzaghe, would you as Lacy's camp allow him to go into a fight as dangerous as the Taylor fight?
lacy is clearly on the downslide but he deserves to make some money off of his name. also taylor doesn't fight well enough to give lacy the same kind of beating calzaghe did.
You're forgetting that Taylor hits harder than Calzaghe and Lacy is just a shadow of himself since the Calzaghe fight. Given Lacy's last three performances, Taylor has the potential to destroy him.

Lacy is only doing it for the money. It's a disgrace when boxing is trying to rebuild it's good name. They could put someone in with Taylor who will actually go to fight and make it a good match but instead they just put an on the verge of retirement Lacy in there to take a pounding in a very boring fight and after that he lands a big fat pay check for his troubles.
Yes because of 2 reasons:
1. If I was on Lacy's management team I would want to get paid and Taylor is probably the best money out there for him.
2. Lacy isn't going to be around much longer and so might as well let him collect his money.
It's fine with me. Lacy gets a good pay-check and a chance to see if he has anything left in the tank.
I agree. I also see it as Lacy might get a fire back in his belly with the Taylor opportunity. He very well could make a fight of this if he gets motivated enough. His last few fights it seemed like he was just going through the motions.
feel bad for Lacy and everything, but physically, he just cant compete like he used to anymore. I hope he doesnt get hurt in this fight. Im going for Taylor of course, but dont want to see a serious boxing related injury occur.
No......unless he got with a new trainer possibly like Roach or Mayweather Sr........but even then, still would have my doubts
he still has no chance. roach is overrated so fuck him. but he has no chance against top super middleweights. andrade destroys him and kessler and taylor kills him
I would'nt let Lacy near Taylor right now..
If Lacy was looking near like he was before Joe beat him
and those 3 fights he had since then shined in everyone of those
i would
but considering his been looking stale of late this one could
very well finish him...
Well Lacy was talking about retirement. all though Jeff will probably over estimate his own abilities and say it was a money thing that caused his retirement talks
this fight could officially finish Lacy, and once it gets past the 5th round, provided Taylor can keep Lacy at the end of his punches this should be a cake walk.
Hell no especially if your trying to protect his career right now. Mendoza is no where near as polished as Taylor. Taylor will hurt and knockout Lacy at this point in their careers. Lacy has shown too many flaws since that brutal battle with Joe. I think he needs a new trainer to get some new blood in his camp and start telling him not to depend so much on his power. He used to be a very good boxer in the amateurs and has since abandoned his boxing ability for his power. Lacy to me is a dissappointment right now considering that only two years ago he was Mr. unstopable.
No, I would not. Taylor seems to have re captured his 'fire' after the first loss to Pavlik after some bad performances. Despite losing the return fight, Taylor fought very well.
On the flip side the loss to Joe just seems to have ruined Jeff. He was almost outboxed by Peter Manfredo (A fighter so great he got stopped by Calzaghe in recent years), Then hurt by his last oppenent on a number of occasions. None of those fighters are near the level of Taylor.
I actually could see Taylor knocking Lacy out (Probably a TKO) if Lacy looks anything like he has recently.
